I wanted to congratulate you on your hire of Les Miles. Les Miles was one of the best hires that Oklahoma State has ever made in any sport. He turned around a sinking ship program by assembling a very good group of coaches, recruiting very well, stressing academics and running a clean program.
You've got a straight shooter who is an up and comer. I don't know about his aspirations for professional football but know (as you found out yesterday) that if the Michigan job came up and they offered it to him.....he'd take it.

Your program offers him something that he'd have a hard time achieving in Stillwater. Winning the B12 and competing for a Nat'l championship. OSU played in the strongest division in college football and arguably the strongest conference in the country.
The only downside to this hire is him bringing along Bill Clay. Clay probably wouldn't have been back next year. His 4-2-5 defense stunk. He played a very passive style of defense that drove our fans crazy. But of course, your athletes are generally going to be a step-up from the material he had to work with at OSU.....

I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about Miles or his staff....

Thanks for the well wishes. What happened yesterday for you to say he would definitely take the Michigan job? Did the press conference make you certain of this? I only heard him say that once he is settled, then that is it.

This may be a dumb question, but who are you rooting for tongiht?

It was all good until you posted some crap about the Big XII being the strongest conference in the country.    Two team conference my friend...OU and Texas. A&M is up and coming again; however, still a two team conference. Texas Tech would be nothing more than chicken shi# in a real conference.

The SEC has top caliber teams in both divisions. LSU, Auburn in the West. Florida, Tennessee, Georgia in the East. Florida had a down year, but they are better than anyone else in the Big XII sans OU and UT.

Let's see -- when we hired Nick Saban, all of the State fans were cursing us and calling us names.

Now, all of the OSU fans are coming over saying, "Good Luck" and "Good Hire".

Things that make you go .... HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM...............

Ahaaa. I knew that would smoke out the diehard conference folks. SEC is alongside the B12 as the toughest conference...no doubt. But to say the B12 is a two team conference is not facing reality. I suggest you take a peek at the B12 South division.....OSU placed 5th in the division and still beat Colorado and Iowa State (who both went to Bowl games) from the Northern division. The North was obviously down this year but don't expect Nebraska & Kansas State to stay down for long. The B12 had 7 bowl teams and is currently 4-2 in bowl games this season.
I wouldn't underestimate the Magician Mike Leach at Tech either....he smoked Cal and his team is very, very good and NO defense wants to play against his offense.

I think it simply shows that one progam is able to show thanks for a coach who put them on the map and understands he had to improve himself.

OSU matched LSU's offer, everyone wanted Les Miles to stay, if that is what you were implying. They are happy to see Bill Clay go.

If you wanted an important employee to stay, do you just match the offer?

Well let's see when your stadium holds 57,000 and the new employer holds 93,000 then you do not get into a bidding war. Nice try Bud.
