I was actually part of a project where we were going to use something like this to be a universal translator. It sees text, and uses a translation database so you would see your language pop up instead. It also has a microphone so it could do the audio translation also. We unfortunately were beaten to the punch by a UK developer who already had a working prototype. The potential these offer is quite huge, not just in translation but in so many different areas.
Damn, sorry Cajun "the big deal" sensation, for derailing your thread with nimrods that wear blue tooth gadgets. I wasn't able to watch the video because I was at work but just did. This is pretty amazing. So is it a pair of glasses? I guess that is what you were eluding to with the "will anyone know I have it". Either way it is still bad ass. Should take POV porn to a whole new dimension.
Right now its a big medal box attached to the side of your head... But technology always shrinks from year to year... So within 5 years the device will appear to be no more than thick rimmed glasses. Could be very interesting at sporting events... Instant replays, stats, scores, etc. I also believe that this type of device will be much more useful in a large city.
Looks cool, until they fall off and sink to the bottom of Larto Lake like my 150 dollar pair of Oakleys did back in the 90's.
LOL it's a freakin riot when the guy you're fishing with drops his blue tooth in the lake, then bends over to watch it sink, only to have his cell phone fall out of his shirt pocket and follow the blue tooth down to the bottom. Hahaha shit was so funny I couldn't help but laugh...
Seems extremely complex and I'm not really sure what this concept is; however, I would like to know what the possible sexual applications are.
http://www.thestreet.com/story/11850432/1/watch-out-for-google-glasses.html "Google Glasses will impact societal behavior from the moment they arrive. As soon as you see them, you're aware that you might be filmed. People don't like being filmed. There will be no place to hide -- unless the government legislates Google Glasses, or private establishments decide to ban them."
Within 1 year the metal box will be an iPod-like plastic box in your pocket that syncs with the glasses via bluetooth.
This is is very cool. Will make pirating movies easier.......... Not that I do that.... Just the first thought that came to my brain.
