return punts and kickoffs ... Green still not 100% ... Well, do the coaches play him at less than full speed ... IMO, Best to sit him down another week ... we we'll need him against FLA
Reminds me of the Rickey Williams injury with the Saints (high ankle sprain) took forever to recover. not good. we can't lose one element of our team like that, namely a threat at returning a punt. the fill-ins have been in one word....awful. field position will be tanamount in this game. i sure hope we don't lose that battle like we did against Auburn. definitely a big part as to why we lost.
I don't think Green will contribute much at all this year. If it's taken this long to heal, it's really serious. That's too bad.
On the bright side of things, it's forced our hand in putting our 2 super frosh receivers on the field and they have delivered. We'll look back on this next year and be thankful for that aspect.
Earlier this week, I've read conflicting reports. Some articles said he was nearing 100% and was expected to play....other reports said that he said he was experiencing some pain during his cuts and said that he'll, "play through the pain." ....But if what you're saying is true, Ramah, then I guess he's not 100% healthy. If that's the case, I either use him sparingly or not at all. And DEFINATELY NOT on punt and kickoff returns. If "planting" his feet causes him discomfort, I definately don't want him to further injure himself trying to make something happen on returns and cutting too hard. But if he's at least well enough to play, then he definately is servicible. He could participate in passing plays down field. Let him run some "go" routes and perhaps some slants. But again, if he plays at all today, I would expect it to be minimal playing time. Like you said, I'd rather have him healthy for next week vs Florida than run the risk he injure himself more against UGA this week being he's not fully healed.
Well I'll be damned ... Skyler Green is gonna play He just flew past Hultberg and gave him a wink ... there's no tape or cast on the ankle ... he's good to go :thumb: Man, that's great news
