1. When it comes to the NFL, I pretty much know zero. I don't like the NFL and I don't follow it. Ray Lewis is a middle LB right? Pretty good -- got an NFL MVP or two? Played for the Ravens, led them to a Super Bowl? That's all I know about him.

As for Irvin, he was a key part of the Dallas Cowboy dream team, America's Team, along with UCLA's Aikman and Florida's E. Smith. I never liked the Cowboys of the 90s.

Now, I have been to Miami, FL and I think that one of the coolest cities I've been to. I do remember reading an article about Thug U recruiting and how some mega-star WR from Miami would take the 5 star WR recruits out in his Ferrari and drive around South Beach being glorified like a rock star. I guess that was Michael Irvin, but I can't remember.

Shaun Taylor... Shaun Taylor... the name really doesn't ring a bell to me.

Still, I think the great Miami teams of recent decades tended to behave themselves in an obnoxious way when it came to game-related sportsmanship. Back during the ND v Miami games of the 80's, I always rooted for ND. For some reason, I liked Gino Torreta's Miami-led team that fell to Bama in the early 90's NC game, and I thought Miami would win that game. But that's the only time I can remember having any positive things to say about a Miami team (maybe just because I wanted to see Bama get crushed). I loved watching Ohio State take Miami down in the NC game about 5 or so years ago.
  2. Yes, I was agreeing with you.

  3. I remember announcers commenting on that about USC a couple years ago & how noble it is, but I really don't think it translates to on the field.

I like having players names because I can't remember every players number & want to be able to know who is who.
  4. Television is the reason names were put onto the jerseys. Small type like that were unreadable from the stands but TV you close to the action. People remember names better that numbers and it imroved fan appreciation of whowas doing what out there.
  5. I have been very close to Miami program for the past 3 years, my bestfriend has season tickets and I have been to most of their home games. Shannon has created a new culture with this team. If you miss a class you run your azz off, If you have the wrong attitude, youdont play and get suspended. If you have a bad practice and you are starter, you dont play. He has really kicked the bad apples from this team. They might have a respectable year this year, but its going to take 2 years or so before they become dominant again.

As far as Shannon he is just whats this team needs at this point in the program. He may not be the best football coach, but good for the team.
  6. From everything I've seen and read, he's definitely the right man for what needs to be done at Miami.
