1. (from our forum)

Had there been an eight team playoff this year consisting of the six BCS conference champs and the two highest rated at large teams, it would have looked like this based on current BCS rankings:

    1) Ohio State (Big Ten)
    2) Florida (SEC)
    3) Michigan (at large)
    4) LSU (at large)
    5) USC (Pac 10)
    6) Louisville (Big East)
    7) Oklahoma (Big 12)
    8) Wake Forest (ACC)

    First Round:
    Wake Forest (8) @ tOSU (1)
    Oklahoma (7) @ Florida (2)
    Louisville (6) @ Michigan (3)
    USC (5) @ LSU (4)

1/8 winner versus 4/5 winner in Rose, Jan 1
2/7 winner versus 3/7 winner in Orange, Jan 1

Winners meet Jan 14th in Fiesta (Bowls rotate each year with the "out" bowl hosting the BCS #9 versus #10 each year and the BCS Championship game the following year)

Chances are we would have had an all Big Ten/SEC semi finals with a chance for either league to put two teams in the final.

Now tell me that's not a better deal than what has transpired!!!

  2. that makes way too much sense for the ncaa.

usc in death valley would be epic.
  3. Yes please..

I'll have what he's serving up.
  4. The ONLY change I would make would be to move the first round up to Christmas, or a day or two before. Then the second round of the 4 remaining teams would be a double-header affair on New Year's Day, and the championship would be about a week later.
  5. Actually, I would consider giving the non-BCS conferences a chance to make a playoff system, even at the expense of one or more wildcard spots that Michigan or LSU would get this year.

Maybe the rule could be something like this:

The 6 BCS conference champs are in, leaving 2 spots available.
Any undefeated teams (non-BCS conference members or independent teams) get those spots. On the rare occasion when there are 3 or more such teams, then the 2 highest-ranked teams are in.
Any unfilled slots are filled by the highest-ranked teams not already in the playoff.
  6. i actually like that idea, it would also give the #1 team an easier first game which they have earned by being #1. of course that system would have left LSU out this year.
