not only is their offense bad but their defense is really horrible also. is any credit given to pelini for the drop off? i'm very curious to see how our d does against tenn. i wasn't at all happy with the way our d played against asu but i don't think it represents how we will play all year. ronnie prude got burned early with mistakes on his part and since sammy wasn't able to play that could have had a major reason for the soft zone. i think between samme and prude we should be ok at that cb position and the tother side played much better. our biggest concern should be the lb playing in passing situations, but at the same time the asu game is hard to judge by because our safetes were haveing to help the corners a lot. landry seemed to be getting really frustrated and could have been flagged a few times, he knows they are better than they showed in the game and the tenn game should have a much better look.

Good point. I know OU had some losses due to graduation (wait? do they graduate players in Norman??? :hihi: ...Sorry Peabody--I couldn't resist!) :thumb:

But seriously, I know they lost some players either to graduation or the draft, but I would put their problems more towards lack of depth to replace their lost talent more than replacing their former co-defensive coordinator. But I will put SOME of their disappointment on defense on losing a defensive coach....but I think losing a coach is a distant 2nd to losing quality players and not having anyone with the talent to replace them.

its because ou hasn't recruited smart. They have recruited top notch athletes but not where they need the depth at.

In '05 they had 11 recruits on offense 15 on defense and 1 athlete. Of those guys, 3 were LB's and 5 were DB's. They also added 4 WR's. The remaining recruits were linemen (OL and DL)

In '04 their only QB recruit was Rhett Bomar.

IMO, their major downfall recruiting-wise has been their inability to land more than 1 QB in a 2-year stretch. However, Bomar was a 5-star QB coming in two seasons ago and I think Stoops was banking on him being ready to take over without missing a beat.

Now, I don't know if the plan was to ONLY sign one-QB, or if other QB's were pursued but turned down OU. Personally, I can't see why they couldn't land more QB's in previous recruiting classes due to the success that Jason White was having and with OU's success.

RIght now, for '06, they have one early commitment QB (3-star Sam Brandford 6'4", 200 lbs.) ....but, I think they need at least 1 more QB and possible someone a little more highly touted.

Stoops is expected to resign today at 4pm eastern. His agent said the fans are too ungrateful. Stoops not sleeping etc...lost the swagger, will sit out a few years, maybe help his baby brother at Arizona
