..........of tackling been addressed? I know most of it was Roy Williams but the second half of the cotton bowl scared the hell out of me. As it was the last game we played I am uneasy about it. Watching the arkansas QB run crazy on us and the inability to defend a pass into the endzone at the end of the game made me physically sick. Our offense is supposed to be good this year but if we get outscored by 3 or 7 points each game it doesn't mean squat. Remember our offense of recent memory, it was great. But, we couldn't stop jack. There is nothing more fustrating than seeing your defense play great for two downs and then the other team completing a third and long. Or seeing good pass coverage and then the QB scrambles thru three arm tackles for a first down when it should have been a loss. Don't get me wrong, the defense is immeasurably better than the days of tepper's drop linebackers. I remember that it was ranked # 1 going into the florida game. But..........Questions, comments, thoughts?

I think it was just that we saw a freak of nature that game. Jack Hunt is a all around player, but there is no way a white guy from ruston is hanging with freakin' Roy Williams....few can. Clayton has the potential to be a Roy Williams type player next year. Just throw the ball at him 10-12 times a game and watch him run.

As far as changes go, I don't think major changes are really necessary considering the freshmen we have coming through...

Saban said recently that a point of emphasis on the defensive side of the ball was stopping big plays. He probably had the end of the Arkansas game and the Cotton Bowl in mind. Those plays make it easy to forget how good our defense was last year. Of course, the injuries on the d-line and the loss of D. James hurt a bit but our defense looked pretty good against Ole Miss and for 58 minutes against Arkansas. As long as we find some LB's, the D should be fine.
