I haven't noticed too many shots taken at players on a personal level here, but I saw this clip of Mike Gundy that reminds me how much a family teams really are: Someone posted this at an AU site in response to some of the criticism directed toward Brandon Cox.
Gundy's good to go. The media, for the most part, makes me want to puke too. Somebody post the article.
Wow...that guys is pi$$ed! Here is the article. Written by some bimbo I see. http://newsok.com/article/3131543/1190555866
The article is a hatchet job on one of their QB's. It makes fun of him, insinuating he's a moma's boy and questions his character and mental stability. ITs one of the most pathetic pieces of sports journalism (if you can even call it that) I have ever read. That dumb bimbo who wrote it should be kicked to the curb ASAP.
wow, she's awful. hopefully, girls hs basketball will start soon and she can get back to her regular assignment. i think btwn gundy and hawkins there's definitely some difference of opinions on parenting in the big 12.
here is my take on it. one, jenni carlson isn't always as bad as that column. but it was baaaaaad. if she had said those things about an ou player, she would have her butt in trouble. this morning the paper printed a statement that they stood by her and what she wrote. GAG! two, i admire gundy for sticking up for his players. he is a good guy, even though i don't agree with all of his decisions. three. although i agree with gundy's stance, i think the took the wrong approach. now, he is the story. he could have made jenni carlson's pathetic pos column the story. if he had very sternly said that it was a personal attack on one of his players and that the article lacked any journalistic integrity and that carlson should be ashamed of herself instead of having a 3 minute tirade, i think that would have been better. however, i do think a 3 minute tirade is much better than letting her get away with such an unprofessional pos. this isn't over. it could get interesting.
Nice assessment okietiger. I think what this chick did was take a few unsubstantiated facts and mixed in personal feelings and wrote a story instead of an opinion column. Thats one of the reasons the article lacks journalistic integrity. Then when you add in the player bashing it gets even worse. This is a very bad situation for the newspaper editor that allowed it to be published. Both the editor and writer should be fired immediately. They went beyond all professional boundaries with that "story" and neither should be involved in writing stories again without strict supervision. That newspapers reputation is tarnished badly with this hack job piece.
for many in this state, that is already the opinion of this pos paper. which is a shame since it is the major daily, other than the tulsa world, in this state. :dis:
