1. Saban said on his radio show that we aren't an option team. Georgia considers this the game of the century for them. They've had two weeks to prepare.

I suggest a mind screw. On the first series we run the wishbone with Skylar at quarterback! Can you imagine this? Steltz at fullback rotating with Hester. Vincent and Broussard at the tailback positions rotating with Carey and Addai? Hell, you could also throw Doucet in as qb also.

What would this do to Georgia's mind? I'm just suggesting trying this for maybe the first two drives.

Of course it won't happen but just fantacizing about it is causing me to drool!
  2. Here's another idea. How about if LSU does a superior job of blocking, running, throwing, catching, tackling and pass coverage and plays the offense and defense according to Nick Saban's game plan.
  3. Then it would be the first time that's happened this year, other than ASU. :yelwink2:
  4. Geekboy, I like the idea but right now our OL has trouble with their current assignments. Implementing an option system for two series would really screw with them. But... if we are simply dreaming that is a truly awesome back field. Imagine Russell pulling the ball out of the FB’s belly, dropping back 5 steps and hitting X-Man flying down the field. Talk about not allowing the secondary to come up and play run.
  5. No need to go/get all crazy and all, but running a little option sure would mess them up, and good.

Georgia is fast just like LSU and the old adage of how best to neutralize a great defensive lineman---run the ball right at 'em--may be another reason to mix in a little option.

Expect to see more of Shy Carey, who carved them up but good in that first game last year. I think you'll see a very heavy RB rotation, with JV and Shy spelling Broussard and LSU going north of 30-35 total carries for the game.

Anyone know if Ga. Southern runs the option? I suspect that they do since they average nearly (get this) 400 yards rushing a game(!), and they had approx. 300 versus Georgia. The QB alone averages 8 carries a game and has 6 total rushing TDs, another sign of an option attack.

Anyways, Ga. may be vulnerable to a little option, and they definitely are to a mobile QB.

Finally, you gotta go right at Odell Thruman, capitalize on the fact that this is his first action of the year and is likely to be a bit out of sync in the first half of the game.
  6. Did you not see the game against MSU? Other than two dropped passes by Bowe after the game was out of reach (I know that's no excuse), the Tigers did all those things. Granted, MSU may be worse than ASU!

  7. I expect to see some "option" offense from the Tigers Saturday. Certainly not the wishbone, and not a receiver playing QB, but I do expect and hope to see M. Randall with run/pass options and the little option that the Tigers have run out of the shotgun in the past. I'm also still waiting to see Doucet or Skyler take a handoff on an end around and launch a pass. If I could make the call, I would do it on LSU's very first offensive play of the game. It could be a run/pass option. Throw it only if the receiver has a little daylight. Do any of you remember when LSU scored on a halfback pass on their very first offensive play in a game against Auburn many, many, years ago?! It was a thing of beauty and set the tone for a big Tigers' victory.

  8. Just a joke

I was kidding about actually implementing the wishbone. Of course it would disrupt the preparation but DAMN it would be great though. We've got the crew to pull it off. It's a forgotten formation and with the corners having to commit to the run freeing up somebody like Carter........it would be a complete and total mindf&ck. Georgia would HAVE to give up a timeout to adjust and it would cause panic on the sidelines even for a moment.

Just wishful and ludicrous thinking on my part.

  9. they run the wishbone and had about 150+ rushing throuh a quarter and a half. they threw the ball about 10 times the entire game.

I didnt put much weight on any game this year for UGA except for the Marshall game. They were in a good spot from a technical standpoint yet scored only 13 points. serious red flag for me.

that being said....I'd like Early at QB if we are in dream time. the rest sounds good with skyler in the slot. on those option passes. reminds me of david palmer with bama in goal line situations.
  10. Hell; since we are all dreaming why not bring back the old Notre Dame box.

Hell you never knew who had the ball in the old days. Why not have running backs and recievers going every which way out of the backfield. You never knew who the ball was going to be snapped to either.

My god the plays you could call from one formation would be endless.

When i was in high school we used to have a play called 26 opposite.
The QB would take the ball and start like a rollout and as he was looking to pass the running back who acted like he was blocking would head the opposite way of flow. Similar to a draw but it was a misdirection play.
I wish LSU would run it because it was always one of our best plays.

Works better against quick teams because you could catch them pursuing and hit a big gain.
