We get top 15 or so probably...

I think we will have a few silly losses b/c of being such a young team

10-15 probably, and thats if we only lose to the likes of Kentucky and Bama... dumb losses and we will be 20-30... to early to tell though

I think we will beat the Bamas and the Kentuckys, but lack of focus will probably cost us a road game or two

This team is too young to know that they are not suppossed to win on the road against top 15 teams. They are fast and confident. I am excited about this season, and I think they will make a run at it but their youth will get them in the end.

Still they are fun to watch.

You may be right, but remember the Syracuse team that won it all in 2003. They were led by Carmelo Anthony (freshman), Hakim Warrick (sophomore), Gerry McNamara (sophomore), and a few other younger guys. Yes, we do have a lot of freshman, but this team has the chance to make a serious run.

I think you're making a pretty far jump on the analogy. Yes, there have been teams that were young that won, but 'Melo, Hakim and McNamara? You're talking about two lottery picks and McNamara, who is a great point guard.

Nevertheless, our team is probably the most talented team we've had since the Stro'-Jabari days. Big Baby is probably more skilled than Stro' was, although less flashy. Tas has great potential--inside and out, which makes him probably a better swing player than we had with Brian Beshara. We've got front court depth, and that makes it hard for teams to purely focus on Davis (ala Smith to Swift). You add to that D Mitch who gives you some outside threat, like Torris did, but more experience and more explosiveness. The X-factor is Tack. Torris was actually a good point guard to run Brady's system for his forwards... hit the outside shot when open and didn't turn the ball over too much, played good ball pressure defense. I look at a team with Tack and you don't know what you're going to get at that spot, which worries me. As other posters have said, you only hope that Tack's return is a plus and not a detriment.

I'd say that this team is a legit top 20 team and could be a #4 seed if they have a reasonably good season (i.e., wins games they should, wins just a few they shouldn't---WVU win is a good start). I'd say the verdict is still out on whether they are a top 15 or higher. I think that as things go this season, the main thing fans will need to watch is whether the team really starts to gel on offense, develop a good rotation (Brady went back to playing his key guys for close 40 minutes each) with a dependable 3-4 bench players, and whether the guard play is solid and consistent. We have enough athletes and height to give most teams problems, but the inexperience will lead to ups and downs that need to be smoothed out come March time.... :geauxtige

I'm not saying they are going to win the national championship, just trying to say that not every great team has to have older players to have great success.

Carmelo clearly was the whole team. Syracuse has been mediocre to OK in the past few years with Gerry and Warrick...

Agreed. However you need to compare Tyrus Thomas to Stro instead of Glen.

Comparing LSU to a common opponent of WV (Texas) I think we are Top 5 in the country right now if Texas is 2.. Our wins are similar and we should even get more credit for beating them at their house.

Basketball rankings this early are dumber then early season football rankings... if we deserve it, we will be Top 10, there isn't as much bias in college basketball.
