Hollis' hit proves how much Tigers mean business

I usually hate this guy. This is a pretty good article if anyone has not read it.

STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Evidently, there has been quite a lot of hitting going on at those LSU football practices that reporters are not allowed to see, except for a few periods at the beginning.

Anyone who has seen LSU linebacker Kenneth Hollis' helmet-to-helmet hit on Mississippi State tailback Jerious Norwood in the Tigers' 37-7 win Saturday was calling it the most vicious, clean hit they have seen in some time.

"It sounded like two 18 wheelers colliding," Mississippi State sideline announcer John Correro told the Jackson, Miss., Clarion Ledger.

"That was the worst I've ever seen," Southeastern Conference official Don Shanks said. "It was scary."

Well, at least now we know some SEC officials do actually have the gift of sight.

"It scared me," State wide receiver Joey Sanders said. "It scared me. I was just praying Jerious would get up."

Norwood, who was sporting a large knot on the back of his neck, underwent several tests Saturday after leaving the game and is expected to be fine.

"I've never been hit like that," Norwood said. "I still feel dingy. The only thing I can remember at all is coach (Sylvester) Croom's voice, and I can't remember what he said."

LSU coach Les Miles had little reaction to the hit. Asked if he had seen any like that in some time, he very nonchalantly said quietly, "Yeah, I have."

Like there was nothing to it. Like he saw one the other day at practice. And Miles is no BS artist. He was not playing to the crowd. Talking to Miles even after a four-hour game that he lost in overtime is like talking to your next door neighbor while taking out the trash.

Poor Daniels got a taste of it too. Hollis lead with his helmet and there was helmet to helmet contact. Lucky there wasn't a flag. Hope Norwood is OK.

It separated Daniels' chin strap from his helmet and his helmet from his head. That was a beautiful hit.

That hit made chin straps and mouthpieces fly all over the place. I thought Daniels definately got the worst of the hit right after the play.

So did I. I thought Daniels took most of it and he looked groggy too.

I remember the hit and remember Daniels helmet flying off. Then the long wait while Norwood was down. However, I do not remember at what point in the game it happened. Anyone? So I can watch it.

2nd quarter about half way through, I don't know the exact time but it was before the Prude interception.

Maybe they don't have penalties for leading with your helmet but I watched several times in slow-mo and there is no question his head was down and he speared Norwood in the head. Maybe not intentional but it happened nonetheless.

Cant do that to a QB- its an automatic 15 yarder.
