    per ESPN ... last was Washington DE Steve Emtman in 1991, the best player on Washington's undefeated National Championship team and the #1 overall pick in the NFL Draft...that dude was fun to watch back then

    Except for that one defensive player who won the Heisman in 97...

    Good job by ESPN. Except that Ndamukong Suh might get touchy about that. Being as he was fourth in 2009.

    Ha. I swear ESPN put that across the screen...hey, their mistake works out for us...people like me saw it and were like wow...

    Perhaps "Purely" defensive. Charles Woodson played on both sides of the line, though primarily on defense.

    Maybe they meant first non-senior... Emtman was a redshirt junior in 91, then went pro. Suh was a senior...

    well no because Woodsen was a junior....still, when is the last time a true sophomore like HB7 finished top 5, much less a defensive player?
