I know I can't expect folks to be fired up about exhibition basketball this early in the season with a top 10 match up next weekend and Game Day comin' and all, BUT don't forget that the young, but talented and unproven Tigers are also kicking off their hoops schedule. After two tune-up exhibitions in Canada, which came after just eight practices, the young Tigers, led by newcomer Marcus Thornton, have waxed two Canadian teams (one of whom beat usually competitive Morehead State yesterday). I know... I know... these games don't matter. But, here are some hopefully interesting statistics. The Tigers score 92 and 101 in the games. They shoot over 40% from three point land (remember this is from the longer int'l arc). Marcus Thornton (who scores 30 and then 19) and Anthony Randolph (avg high teen in points and getting blocks) are making immediate impacts. Terry Martin is running the point, while Garrett is out. And, actually doing a good job. The team is playing an up and down game... with motion, screening, and a lot of outside shots? Who is this coach (of course, he's worried about defense and rebounding ... as am I ). Here's the early prognosis from CJB after the two games. Needless to say, it'll be an interesting season folks watching this team. More fun to watch, even if the results aren't the same as two years ago (let's just hope they're better than last year) . http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=27826&SPID=2166&ATCLID=1206638&DB_OEM_ID=5200 :geauxtige :bball: :champs: LSU IS A BASKETBALL SCHOOL. glad to hear about marcus. 30 doesnt mean a helluva lot against them, but better than getting 10. this preseason trip couldnt come at a better year for the tigers---cjb is such a smart guy.
