no mistake about it, steele made a great shot, but also, no mistake about it, steele took 3-4 extra steps to be able to get it off lol
That's one of the reasons I quit watching basketball of any type years and years ago. From the highlights that are seen on ESPN not much has changed since I quit watching either. It has now become street ball on all levels. It has gotten to where three steps and a hop is legal (serious traveling back when I played), "palming" or "carrying" the ball while the player takes two steps is a great move in today's game. :dis:
Did you see the replay? It wasn't that he did it to be a streetballer...He was just in a jam and took an extra step and a half to get free. Should have been called a travel and the game should have went into OT but you still never know what would have happened in OT. Bama clearly had plenty of momentum. Bad call...Could have been a win or loss...It wasn't called though. Good comeback by Bama though. On to Opelika...Ahhh...another road game...:nope:
yeah... he did what he had to do. had he not traveled, the clock would have run out, and the game would have gone to OT regardless, so he had little to lose.
Few points. One, you can't blame one call and say it gave a team a win when the other team took an 18-2 lead to start the game, lead as much as 19 in the game, allowed a 16-3 run late in the game...and it's one call that determines the game. Georgia lost that game. IF the ref would have called that ball "tied up," possession would have been Bama's with several seconds left on the clock.
Not true. Alternating possession would have gone to UGA. If you remember the previous UGA possession, it looked like a shot clock violation but the refs inexplicably ruled alternating possession to Bama after they reviewed the replay. Another bad call. Good comeback, but it should have gone to OT. Bama probably would have won since they had all the momentum, but it doesn't change the fact that it was an awful call.
That's not how I remember it, but you very well may be correct. Here in Charleston, they broadcast ACC so I was forced to listen to it on the radio/'net while I was replacing one of the eyes on my stove...can't say I was paying full attn. Looking at the replay on youtube, it appears to me the discussion about the call being bad was specifically refering to his pivot foot. If that's the case, under the rules of the NCAA, the only way you change your pivot foot is if you pivot, lift your pivot foot, then return it to the floor before you give up the ball. Steele shot the ball well before his pivot foot returned to the floor. No big deal...glad we came across with a win. I saw a stat earlier this morning that no SECW team has won on the road this year...geez, going to be a tough conference run for whoever wins the West...much less the SEC. I see you guys ran into the same buzz-saw we did at Arkansas...road wins, tough to come by.
From Rolltide.com Yep. 9 or 10 wins may be good enough to win the West this year. Outside of Florida, the league is really balanced. Can't tell if that balance is due to a lot of good teams or just a bunch of average teams.
