For those in the Houston area, I heard this morning that Sports Radio 610 has signed a deal for Coach Les Miles to be on the radio every Thursday at 6:50 am this fall. Should be similar to Saban's call-in last year, but earlier in the day (better for commuters anyway!) Anyway, just wanted to give you a heads up! :geauxtige
Good news! Given Miles and his personality, it'll actually be worth listening to sometimes, as opposed to St. Nick's weekly calls in the past. Saban made it painfully obvious he didn't want to do that show---it was done, of course, to boost LSU's "profile" in the Houston area for fans and prospects---and the guys kinda responded in kind. The calls were very short, 3-5 minutes ususally, and went sorta like this: "Hey coach, thanks for joining us. You guys had a big win against Alabama last week. Gotta be happy about your team's play!" (audible sigh) "Ah...relatively, yeah, we played relatively hard but we still need to improve relative to where we need to be, relative to where we are trying to go. Relatively speaking, of course." (5 seconds of silence) "Uh, that sounds great, coach. How about your next opponent..." And so it went. He was so personality-free during those calls, I would watch him give a television interview and wonder if Radio Saban and TV Saban were one and the same. Relatively speaking, Saban was the life of the party on TV compared to that call-in bit. Maybe it's just an anti-radio bias among coaches, I dunno. Bob Stoops was in Houston earlier this week and he observed a Houston Texans practice. When a reporter from the radio station tried to ask him questions (after Stoops chatted w/ TV folks), he stoned them and walked away.
I like coach miles...I like his personality and all that. I got my copy of the Media Guide today. You know the media guide with on 208 pages so LSU doesnt have a recruiting edge?LOL well on the cover, I like the pic of Miles. But, he's gotta do something about that belt. LOL The LSU belt with the logo on it is kind of Oklahoma or Texasish lol.
I found one at the station. Kennedy gave it to me b/c it was sent to wynk. We know no one at wynk needs it lol
