How is it that Texas A&M has 4 LB recruits and we have 1

They have one 4 star, two 3 stars, and a 2 star committed.

I thought that when we got Chavis, our woes in the LB dept would go away. Why can't we pull a few solid 4 star linebackers each year? We are already known as D-Linemen U and are apparently doing really well pulling in top-notch talent in the secondary as we consistently put them in the NFL. Whats up with the LBs? Wouldn't you think they would want to play on a team that already has great Linemen and Secondary? That would only make their job easier, make them look better, and allow them to be on a successful Defense ( and team ) that gets media attention.

19 of the top 40 ranked Middle LB's are from the South ( TX, LA, MS, FL, AL, GA ) and 10 of them are from Texas.........where we generally recruit well.

34 of the top 70 ranked Outside LBs are from the South ( TX, LA, MS, FL, AL, GA )

..........and we're losing these great LBs in our fertile southern recruiting grounds to such recruiting powerhouses as Texas A&M, Stanford, Clemson, Ga Tech, Wake Forest, Arizona State, Virginia, Arizona, Louisville, Michigan, Okie State, etc.

Obviously there must be some disconnect between the way we recruit other defensive positions and the way we recruit LB's. Where are we going wrong? We have a DC who is a great LB coach and has put them in the NFL. Our defense as a whole is always great.

    What do you think?

The problem will be depth in the future.

We only have 3 linebacker recruits total over the past 2 seasons.

We really need to land another LB in this class.

I have no clue why we can't recruit the LB position better. I too thought that problem would be taken care of with Chavis.

I am pulling hard for C J Johnson he would be a great addition to this class and would be competing for early playtime.

Texas A&M has the advantage of having a bunch of good LBs in the state unlike LSU in the state of LA. Historically, LA is just below par when it comes to producing LBs. Right now we don't have a strong TX recruiter on staff which should be addressed but we still pulled in one of the top LBs in TX committed.

Although he is from the Houston area, where we have done well in the past.

I hope we hire Fuente and get the added benefit of the Dallas-FW hot bed.

All I know is that if there is a weakness in stud athletes produced in the state of LA....it is at the QB and LB positions.
