1. OK ... my question is --- the Tigers are obviously battle-tested, on the road and at home. They have played a decent non-conference schedule and remain undefeated. Other SEC teams -- UT for example, has played an extremely challenging schedule and have a record that shows it (most recently - a loss to Rutgers). Vanderbilt, on the other hand, has only one loss, yet has played no one meritable. Lastly, UGA has played up and down as well with a tough schedule. How do these four pan out in the SEC? Personally... I see all of them being threats at home, but on the road, I see LSU & Vanderbilt as being the top 2. Any opinions?
  2. I haven't seen the other teams play but I have seen LSU and I seriously like their chances to win the SEC.
  3. Here's the SEC schedule:

    01/08/05 Georgia Baton Rouge, La.
    01/13/05 Florida Gainesville, Fla.
    01/16/05 Alabama Baton Rouge, La.
    01/20/05 Arkansas Baton Rouge, La.
    01/23/05 Vanderbilt (SEC-TV) Nashville, Tenn.
01/30/05 Auburn (SEC-TV) Baton Rouge, La.
    02/03/05 Ole Miss Oxford, Miss.
    02/06/05 Mississippi State Starkville, Miss.
02/10/05 Tennessee (ESPN2) Baton Rouge, La.
    02/13/05 South Carolina Columbia, S.C.
    02/17/05 Kentucky Baton Rouge, La.
    02/20/05 Auburn Auburn, Ala.
    02/24/05 Arkansas (SEC-TV) Fayetteville, Ark.
    02/27/05 Florida Baton Rouge, La.

I don't think LSU will get beat in Baton ROuge...very good to have the Tennessee game at the Maravich this year. Vols have struggled but the schedule has been tough and they have yet to unleash Candace Parker.

Vandy has played a cupcake schedule but they are a team that has LSU's number. They have a deep backcourt that is variable in speed and in shooting range. And Ashley Early is playing the PF position like a woman possessed. It will be tough to win in Nashville.

Georgia is overcoming injuries and youth. They have to travel to Baton Rouge. I think they are a year away.

Auburn has won 9 straight wins but playing a schedule only slightly more challenging than Vandy. I'll get back to you later on the Tigers as they host #2 Duke today. Auburn probably has one of the more veteran teams in the SEC so experience will take them a long way.
  4. Auburn trails Duke by 14 in the second half.
  5. I saw that a couple of days ago both Tennessee and Connecticut got blown out on the same day. Not really familiar with many of the sec teams right now but those are two top national programs that LSU is a LOT better than right now.
  6. The Lady Tigers will win the SEC and the NC this year.

Pokey is my hero now that Nick left us flat.
  7. Auburn lost to Duke by 19 after making a little run at the end to whittle a 30 point lead down. The Auburn Tigers are a fast and scrappy team with experienced players at the 1-4 position. And Payne is a shot blocking monster (she had 8 against Duke including blocks against 6'7" Bales and 6'5" Black). What will hurt Auburn is their lack of post depth. They will struggle against teams that can wear their experienced post players down. That is what Duke did tonight.
  8. You really need to get over that, Jean. I look for good things in LSU's football future.
  9. I know I should.

I know that I should get over it, but it's so hard to do so.

Pokey's team will help me get through the rough times.
  10. Didn't UGA's womens team lose several home games or something that made them drop like crazy in the poll or am I imagining that?
