At 10-1 and the odds being pretty good for me to get a good bonus, I'd be feeling damned good and proud....I'd be eatin' even better.
You can't really put more passing plays in right now, because LSU lacks a serious run game. JV has been mediocre at best, Addai is still gimp. (no offense MFn :thumb: ), and Shyrone isn't sniffing PT (rumor has it he has an attitude problem).
I've suddenly been overwhelmed with Christmas spirit and have decided to stop griping. Things aren't perfect but I'm just going to support the team and hope for improvement. The loss to Houston last night did it to me. I'm tired of feeling unsatisfied. Geaux tigers. If I were coach I would try to pass more, but if that continued to spite me I wouldn't keep banging my head against the wall. I'd try to get wins and put the passing game on hold if need be. Which I guess is what has happened. I damn sure wouldn't be married to the idea of NEEDING to be balanced. I'd do whatever worked, with enough of the other mixed in to keep my options open.
I'd kill myself because there's no way I would be able to put myself and the fans through the horror of a 10-1 season, becing SEC west champs and playing in the SECCG.
I'd feel a little ticked because championship seasons involve hard work, quality talent, kind schedules and some luck. This team could have hit on all cylinders from the get-go, coaches make all the right decisions...and breaks could have gone against LSU and left them even an 8-3 team at this point. I think all of us can agree that LSU's gotten many, many lucky bounces this season, yet the hurricane and the lag that comes with a new coach and staff all contributed to that one stinking loss. To have gotten on balance good luck this year and not translate it into an undefeated season---especially when you were up 21 points at home in the second half and had never, ever reliquished such a large lead at home previously---has to sting. The positives for this year are still numerous---SEC title, Sugar Bowl title, outside shot at a AP national title (takes two upsets this weekend), another great recruiting class in part due to on-field excellence---and they all help to set LSU up for future years in which they challenge, through the first weekend of December, for conference and national titles. What more can an LSU fan ask for?
