The big deal now is that 20 thousand foreigners are booked in hotels for e marathon and they are ejecting locals from hotels because of reservations. The everyday New Yorkers are pissed. And also I can't get to the Staten Island ferry dock for the marathon start so I have to cram I to a bus in midtown, which will be desperately overpacked and I hate enclosed spaces and crowds the wa other people hate heights or public speaking. I would have never signed up to run if I knew about this.white people problems.
New Jersey turned away utility crews because they're non-union. Idiots. http://www.therightscoop.com/nonunion-utility-crews-turned-away-from-new-jersey/
seriously, those number are incomprehensible to regular folks. they could say a zillion and i cant tell the difference. the traffic in new york is worse than it has ever been, possibly as bad as anyone has ever seen in america. we are utterly dependent on the trains, and they still dont run south of 34. this is why everyone should own a bicycle.
and.......its off. no marathon. i was right, but a day ahead of the curve. i tried for 3 years to get in, and i ran 5 consecutive half marathon over the last months to prepare. but its ok i still wasnt ready because of alcohol.
You can't really postpone it, for many reasons. It goes 26 miles thro the most important city in the world, and half of the 40 thousand in it arrive from overseas. Plus training is tricky because its so goddamn hard. You have to start resting up for it two weeks before it starts. It's done, not gonna happen. 8 months of preparation for 40 ousand people wasted because idiots cried so loud about it.
i spent over 200 on marathon entry. foreigners spent over 300 (plus thousands on hotels and flights). we ended up having that money taken from us by force without reason. and so the gatorade i bought, the water, the police protection, the medical supplies i bought, the bagels, all taken from me without my approval AND "DONATED". keep in mind that the marathon was canceled for no reason other than emotional motherfuckers whiing and threatening violence. there is no shortage of anything. on the news they show the neighborhoods where the red cross has stacked hundreds and hundreds of pallets of water bottles, and people have unnecessarly dropped off garbage bags ful of useless clothing and crap. this is new york, not bangladesh, nobody actually is thirsty. nevertheless, they took my supplies an gave them away: NYRR announced it has donated or is in the process of donating the following to NYC-area recovery efforts: 297: Poland Spring Water Skids (35 cases per) gallon jugs 263: boxes of non-latex gloves 75: hand sanitizer wipes (cartons) 7,000: T-shirt total 14: AEDs 132: cots 47,500: sponges 50: Poland Spring Green Tubs 122: wool blankets 2,256: Gatorade bottles 2,256: Poland Spring water bottles 33: Mylar blankets 60: Flavor T-shirts and aprons via PowerBar 104,400: Poland Spring 8oz bottles 9,600: Gatorade 20oz bottles 480: Gatorade 24oz bottles 23,500: PowerBars 28,620: bagels 1,750: pounds of ice 54,000: runner bags - blue (contains Poland Spring Water, PowerBar, Emerald Nuts, bag of pretzels, apple) 10,000: runner bags - green (contains Poland Spring Water, Emerald Nuts, bag of pretzels) 40,000: apples 5,544: boxes of pretzel bags 2,000: cases of salted almonds 52,000: sponsor heat sheets 35,000: orange ponchos 600: volunteer t-shirts 35,000: runner shirts 70,000: plastic runner bags 6,000: medical blankets 130: prepaid phones
That is a heart-rendering tragedy for you. You won't get your runner bag and T-shirt. Geez, I hope you get through this OK.
