Auburns Punter would do that jog to the right and pooch kick, worked pretty well. But I have a question 1. Does he always go to the short side of the field 2. If so why not put a few speedsters on that side and rush the guy wolfie bezerker style and try to block it or tackle him. I dont know it just seemed to take for ever for the guy to take the snap, jog 5 or six steps set himself then kick. I am sure I am boiling it down to much, but it seems to me if he continued to do that, slide some guys over there and go after him.
I'm not sure how that play is designed, but it looks like the punter has a pass/punt option. If the blitz came hard and fast, I think a receiver would then be open. If the defense stays at home on the play, the kicker punts. Note: That is all pure speculation as I am not a coach. :yelwink2:
Neither is Tubby. He hates to give up the ball on downs. It's his achilles heel. It's going to cost you.
There is no question that kid was instructed to look out for something each time he rolled out - I guess he never saw it but it was quite obvious he was on the lookout for it...
it looked like he was just waiting for pressure before he punted it, buying time to get people downfield. If didnt just roll to the short side of the field, he just always rolled to his right since he was right footed.
Another question with that punting technique. If a defender blasts the guy when he goes to punt is it still roughing or running into the kicker?
