I have given Les Miles a good helping of crap over the last two seasons. Now I think I should give credit where it is due. LSU may have just played the toughest SEC schedule in the history of the Conference. 4 teams top 10, 3 of them were top 5, right? I can't remember where Tennessee was when we knocked them off. I want to say 8. At any rate, all of those games were on the ROAD. When LSU was 0-2 against top 5 teams on the road, I got a bit miffed. That's a hard schedule, but you gotta win the big game on the road. Of course, LSU clearly got jobbed in that Auburn game, and because the Refs did what they did, Arkansas is representing the West in the SECCG instead of LSU, but I think it is clear that LSU is the best team in the SEC West and maybe the best in the conference. We'll never know for sure, but credit goes to Miles and the team for having a heck of a season considering what they faced this year. I am very impressed after it is all said and done this regular season. 2-2 against TOP 5/10 teams in the SEC on the road.

Also, this is one of the toughest years I have seen in the SEC West in a long time. The balance of power is on our side of the conference, for now. Basically, the top three teams all beat each other, and, thus, we knocked each other out of the chance to play for the national championship. But that's ok. That's the SEC.

I also want to particular congratulate Ark. That is a tough team. I didn't think they were that tough. I know they are very good at home, but I thought we'd go up there and kick their asses. I don't know why, I just thought we would. That McFadden dude is a damned keeper, and probably should be their starting QB. If he starts and stays in the entire game at QB, the result may have been different. And Jones is a keeper for them as well. Ark. is going to be tough unless these guys leave the school early for the NFL.

Ok, so now it is Florida-Ark. for the SECCG. Who do you like, who do you want? Ark. is going to drop in the rankings. If Ark. beats Florida, then it is possible that LSU will be the highest ranking SEC team at the end of the regular season. Does this help our chances of getting a BCS bowl game this year? Do you think we will get one regardless?

This one is a little tricky. If USC wins out, they finish #2 and Michigan finishes #3. In this case we want Florida to win so that LSU isn't fighting Florida for a bid to the Orange Bowl.

If USC loses one of its last 2 games (might require a blowout loss to Notre Dame if they beat UCLA) and WVU loses one of its last 2 games, then we want Florida to lose so LSU can finish #4 in the BCS, behind a #2 Michigan and #3 Notre Dame. LSU in this case gets an automatic berth.

It's crazy. If I had to guess, the better situation is Florida winning. That prevents the worst case scenario of USC losing to Notre Dame, allowing Michigan to finish at #2, and ultimately preventing WVU of sliding into the top 4 in the BCS and gaining an automatic berth.

    In other words, you have

    1. Ohio State
    2. Michigan
    3. Notre Dame
    4. WVU

#2, #3 and #4 get automatic bids. The 4th automatic bid goes to Boise State if they beat Nevada. That would suck all to hell. This scenario requires Louisville to win out as well, winning the Big East, setting WVU up as an at-large.

Will be interesting to see if the human polls put LSU ahead of WVU. We were definitely within striking distance. A lackluster performance by WVU this weekend against South Florida would also help in that regard. It is somewhat conceivable LSU could be fighting to pass WVU in the BCS. A Rutgers loss this weekend before playing WVU would be huge as well, lessening the effect of a WVU win over Rutgers the following weekend in both human and computer pollls.

So many scenarios still to be played out. Enough to drive someone crazy.
