In his final pregame news conference at LSU, Saban expressed his displeasure at the fact that no other members of his staff besides Williams have been interviewed. Offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher has expressed an interest in the job. Defensive coordinator Will Muschamp is also considered to be a potential candidate, if more of a dark horse than Fisher. Saban mentioned Fisher on Thursday during his final radio show on the LSU Sports Network. "I talked yesterday about some of our assistants that I think are qualified and ready (to be head coaches) that may not have been given the consideration that I would have liked for them to be able to get," Saban said. "But I think that our administration here wants to have its own guy, and that's OK. I mean, it's up to them." ________________________________________________ I think it was fine for Saban to take the Dolphins job and people have tried to be nice to him about it, but it is very nervy for a coach who is leaving your program and its recruiting class in the lurch to be complaining about how the school goes about hiring his replacement. Nick, I appreciate what you did for the school, and I will root for your Dolphins' teams, but JUST SHUT UP and go.
agree, its time for someone, to move on. he has no say so here regardless what he thinks. he dumped us for better pastures. move on. thanks nick but the second you chose to leave us, so did the value of your opinion. buh-bye.
I don't know that I would discount his opinion, but I do agree with you guys. The game will be over tomorrow for Saban. Let's just hope at that point that he shuts his yapper. Don't get me wrong, he can talk to Skip all day long, but he needs to keep this out of the public eye. It's not his place. That said, he is obviously pulling for his people. If they don't get the job, it might make it "easier" to pull them to Miami. I wish Nick the best, but it is time for closure and time for the Saban era to end since he wanted it that way. He is giving ammo to those people who didn't want him to stick around and coach this last game.
he knows who he is taking and who he is not. guilt seems to be playing a larger part here than ever expected. either that, or he felt his opinion would carry much more weight and feels slighted.
I would bet guilt more than anything, he wont take any of them except maybe Searles with him to Miami, so the rest will be thrown to the wind... Jimbo will end up at Clemson and probably Will too.
I think he's okay until that last sentence. It's one thing to talk up your assistants (who will mostly all be unemployed after tomorrow) in the hopes of making them more attractive candidates for open positions (coordinator, assistant and head coach) everywhere. That last sentence, which was LSU-specific, was unnecessary. Besides, who's this "our administration" he refers to here? If you're no longer really a member of an organization, you shouldn't use the posessive "our" when speaking of said organization. You know, he can easily keep them all from being unemployed by offering jobs in Miami.
Did anyone notice that the only other interview "announced" other than Petrino was Bobby Williams... I dont mean to speculate but was this a "token" interview for the BCA ?
bobby williams and rc slocum have less chance to be LSU's next HC than you or me. no worries at all on those.
