1. Playoffs?

Yeah... I said playoffs, for college football... I have always been a big supporter of the Bowl system. I think that bowl games are a great tradition in sports, and i have always considered the bowls themselves to be more important that a national championship... However, with the extreme unbalance between the BCS conferences, I am beginning to believe that a playoff is the right way to go.
My solution is simple... keep the BCS formula, no automatic bids, top 8 go to a playoff... the rest of the eligible teams go to bowl games... the 8 teams that are in the playoffs play the bcs bowls in the first round, Sugar, Rose, Fiesta, and Orange... the second round is just called The Semifinals (or something clever, i dunno). The championship game is the National Championship...
Now, to the reason I am in favor of a playoff... A playoff provides a schedule balance. A team in the pac10 or the big12 (usc and texas) has a good chance to go undefeated... about as good a chance as an sec team has of having one or two losses... its gives those teams with the tougher conference schedules a chance to reach the postseason on even ground with the teams with weak conference schedules...
I know this has all been said before, but i just wanted to say it because it has been on my brain...
  2. I have always been for playoffs. College Football is the greatest thing in the world. Just think how exciting it would be with a playoff.
