In response to your IRC question which I was not able to answer cause you left: I had already set up a channel on a different IRC network , just waiting for Brett to let me know that he had installed the forum software. Then Philter jumps the gun and puts his out there with no ChanServ, vhosts or anything... If you want it done, it has to be done right.....
I VNC into the home pc where I have the IRC client running and everything else.... all it says on the taskbar is LIBVNCServer...
Guess I am not invited to the Party, I tried my firefox AND IE6 and the java icon spins for about 30 seconds then an X shows up in the top right, yes I installed the latest JRE, (Java2 platform). I might be something in our firewalls blocking it. Let me try from a server in my DMZ Oh well. Guess I could work or something
A lot of us used this last night to test it. An initial observation woudl be that Brett would need some people available to support and monitor the chat 24/7. For example. it went down for no reason last night. I am sure that if the chat were up and going for real, then this would cause Brett to get lots of messages, etc etc. Good idea though and for a test run it worked well.
