I hear ya... I was just following the thread The "would LSU be ready" thingy. and suggesting that getting up for ND hasn't been a problem of late.
No, but they damn near cost us the Ole Piss game. Nothing against JV, but our offense took way too long to get into a rhythm against Ole Piss. I attribute the slow start to CLM's and/or CJF's insistance on running the ball we it was obvious we couldn't. Whoever our starting rb is versus ND is a moot point, I just hope we get into a rhythm early and tear it up!
LSU- 42 Notre Dame-24 While I can appreciate you being a cautious fan, You have no worries here, my friend. LSU will absolutely destroy Notre Dame (by more than 2 TD's). Les will have this team ready to rock. Notre Dame is soft. They are about to find out what SEC football is all about.:thumb:
Max brings up a legitimate point. And we saw it happen to the Saints this past Sunday. Was it overconfidence? Was it looking past the Redskins to a big game versus the Giants? I will tell you this, I don't think the Tigers will come out flat. But I do think that the Irish will come out as passionate as all get out because they realize they have something to prove....that they belong. And what better statement game to make than against the highly touted LSU Tigers. I think the game will be close after the first half. Then talent will just take over and the Tigers should win rather easily. But make no mistake about it, passion, heart and determination can go an awfully long way and cover up a lot of deficiencies. Just ask the New Orleans Saints.
I agree with the prediction of a big LSU victory, as it seems do most of us. It also seems valid to suggest that we might be overconfident and that the Irish will have so much motivation to beat us. Certainly valid possibilties, however, I think it is foolish to overlook what LSU is playing for: 1) The chance for these seniors to have the most wins of any class 2) The chance for several seniors/juniors to showcase their talents to the pro scouts and gain more $$ 3) The chance for juniors(Russell? Dorsey?) to set themselves up for even greater draft status in their senior year, should they return 4) The chance to be VERY highly ranked pre-season and combined with a great schedule, run for the NCG 5) The chance to beat ND in one of the biggest bowls of the year 6) The chance to shut up jerks like Herbstreit for a few months 7) There is NO GAME after this one 8) The chance to show the nation that LSU belongs in the top 5 every year 9) The chance to play in their backyard for the best fans in the world 10) The chance to finish what they started Yes, I think Notre Dame has at least as many personal motivations to play well, and should come out very high, but don't think the Tigers won't be jacked up as well. When two teams are evenly matched, it always comes down to emotion, and who wants it more. When two teams are not evenly matched and both are up for it......well, the predictions are one-sided. I tend to agree with them, and look forward to Russell and Miles putting all doubts and complaints that have followed them for the last two years to bed forever.:thumb::thumb:
I am worried about this game, too. Notre Dame is better than most people are giving them credit for. After losing to USC, Charlie will want to prove that they can beat a big team.
They probably can beat a big team....just not THIS big team....and not in front of THIS crowd, in THIS city and in THIS bowl game. This crowd is going to be awesome and LSU will thrive on the energy of the Dome. I can't wait to go to this game! LSU WINS BIG!!! :helmet: :helmet: :helmet: :helmet: :helmet: :helmet: :helmet: :helmet: :helmet: :helmet: :helmet:
The Saints lost because they couldn't win the battle in the trenches and because Brees is just shy of six feet. He had no time to throw the football and had a hard time seeing over that huge defensive line of the Redskins. The Saints defensive line also didn't match up to the 'Skins O-line and it was like running against a high school team, 8,9 and 10 yard runs are unacceptable in the NFL; just ask the Colts.
