and, boys, this really is a quarterback competition. Flynn will probably win in the end, but this really is a race, as they are both completely new to the system, so Flynn's experience goes out of the window. The RBs are amazing good... Richard Murphy is the best back out there, and one of the best I have seen. WRs were a little shaky, but they don't know their QB's tendencies yet, as most of them have little experience catching from Flynn and/or Perrilloux.
Seems to be that every receiver on our roster would have been playing some pass and catch with MF and RP over the past year or two. I also believe where Flynn's experience will come into play is the fact that he has gotten a lot more reps and game experience at LSU. Don't throw the experience factor out the window just because we have new plays or terminology. Thanks for the report.
Exactly cajdav. My initial thoughts were how can you throw the experience factor out. Matt has played on a big stage(Peach) and also in front of 90K plus a few occasions. Don't matter if the whole staff were to change, it's still a factor.
Very true, doesn't help him that the system will change some but experience always helps. I also wouldn't expect to see a 100% new offense. Miles said that they will take the best of both offenses and blend it in a way that takes advantage of LSU's talent. Don't expect wholesale changes and an entirely new offense.
Thanks Cassey! It feels a little like football season again, for the time being. I like your comments about Murphy. It seemed there was a quote from Miles last Aug. about Murphy being the best athlete on the field when he was in camp, but he'd arrived late and had to wear the red shirt for the year. It seems its been a few years since LSU was considered a "great" running team, maybe Broussard's soph season. I'd like to see us return to a top tier rushing team, and this year could be it. A lot of the names are the same, but they'll be a year older, and I think that will make a difference, for the better. I'm pulling for Alley, I hope he gets in shape and earns playing time his Sr. season. I really enjoyed his first two seasons a lot. Anybody see that Dandy Don picked us to finish #1 in the nation next year? It's on his "predictions" page. He's a homer, but I think its a realistic goal to set for this team. Man, I excited about our front 7 on defense, we're gonna be tough, and we've got both corners coming back also. I gotta believe we can put two good safeties out there.
