Heard on my way home on NFL Radio. Vandershank just got cut by the Cowboys, and they signed Martin Gramatica. I called this one at my fantasy drafts, He is officially a headcase since missing the kick against Pitt last year.
Not surprising. I think he was in the Tuna's dog house since day one. He definitely evolved into a head case which I guess isn't unusual among kickers.
the part about him being a headcase since missing that kick is incorrect. he always was a headcase and choked anytime a pressure situation arose which was almost never in indi til the last couple of years. Every kick under parcells is a pressure kick, hence the results.
No argument that Vanderjagt has not always played with a full deck, but I'm not sure I agree with your assertion that he choked anytime a pressure situation arose. I think he still holds the NFL record for accuracy percentage, at one time kicked 42 consecutive FG's, and didn't miss a FG or PAT in 2003. Surely there was one or more pressure kicks during those streaks???
nope not til the playoffs a few years back when he missed it as badly as he did last year's like 250 feet to the right. hes great in a regular situation then turns into the aaron brooks of kickers when the game is on the line. its quite comical in a sadistic type of way that i enjoy his demise mainly b/c of his frequent idiotic comments.
