Dandy Don reported that there is a chance that Mauck could forego his SR season and enroll in dental school. What happens with the QB situation? Does Randall move up to starter or does one of the RSFR step in?
That's what spring practice is all about. Randall has some game experience, while the freshman are probably better all-around QBs. Randall has also been in the system for longer and knows the offense. The redshirt year of watching, learning, and studying film will allow both of these Freshmen to compete for the job in the spring. Last reports were that Russell is clearly the better athlete with the stronger arm, but Flynn has a better grasp on the playbook. Both kids will continue to develop, and it will be a battle in the spring. My opinion, is that one of the freshmen will step up and take over the starting job, should Mauck decide not to return to further his education and professional career. I have never really been a big fan of Mauck, and my history on this board demonstrates that. However, with that said, LSU would be hurting if Mauck did not return. Its nearly impossible to replace what Mauck brings to this team in terms of leadership and experience. Don't look for one bad game to convince Mauck that he should forego his Sr season. Dandy has contacts all over, and usually doesn't mention anything unless its from someone he considers to be a somewhat credible source. Take this one with a grain of salt until the end of the season when Mauck will make a decision on his future.
Well going into Spring you have to delcare Randall the starter based on expierance. But you give both Flynn and Russell the chance to live up to their hype.
