supposedly, the Pac 10 is known for high-powered offenses- explain this: Total points scored: SEC Kentucky..............299 LSU.....................264 Florida.................238 Arkansas..............220 Alabama...............211 Tennessee............206 South Carolina.......195 Georgia................197 Auburn.................179 Miss. St...............160 Ole Miss...............154 Vanderbilt............136 PAC 10 Oregon.................271 Arizona St............264 California..............225 USC....................204 Oregon St............196 Arizona...............183 UCLA..................168 Washington St.....172 Washington.........155 Stanford.............148 I pulled these numbers in response to a poster on the USC forum saying Kentucky was AS CLOSE to a Pac 10 offense as there was in the SEC........wrong- they're better than any in the PAC. I know there are some defensive/special team points in there but it all balances out......at least, that's my story and I'm stickin to it.
good find, tiga. this must be a down year for the pac 10 eh? or maybe they decided to start playing defense? nah, i'll go with the first one.
Nah, I don't think so. Here are defensive scoring numbers for the entire season up to this point. PAC 10 - 64 total games, 1639 total points given up - 25.6/game SEC - 80 total games, 1734 total points given up - 21.7/game Not only does the SEC defenses on a whole play better defense. Now, thanks to tiga, we have shown that we are better offensively as well.
Stats can be misleading. Take a look at where the first five teams LSU played and where they rank offensively and maybe you will see that our D maybe is'nt quite as good as a lot of people thought. Miss. ST. 110 VT. 112 MT. 96 SC. 88 TU. 87
This begs the question: Where is our quasi-resident USC poster, USCVball. Tiga, thought you'de know better than any of us. I guess she may be doing full-time damage control at the USC boards after the Stanford loss. Later, Fur
Nah, she's actually made congratulatory posts for LSU and has been very honest about the USC situation in the posts she's made that I've read. Hadn't seen her on the USC forum, though I haven't been on it as much lately. After there was a thread calling her out after the Stanford loss, I thought she may have returned the favor after our loss but she's taken the high road, I guess.
Or maybe the stats are misleading because we dominated those teams on defense and that is why they are that low?
Agreed, always felt she was a fair poster and valued her input on USC. Figured this thread might draw her out. Hope she comes back soon... Fur
After 7 games I doubt you can say one game would effect a teams ranking that much. Those teams offenses are ranked that low because they are bad offenses.
