If they can beat UNC, Utah will proably be a BCS Top 6 this week.

Utah sits at number 8 coming into the week. Both Virginia and Purdue were in front of them. This could get really interesting, and I think it's Utah's berth to lose this year.

What a crock. Wisconsin rolled into Purdue and defeated the #5 team in America on the road - they defeated one of the Heisman frontrunners...

Yet, they sit behind Utah hoping one of the basketball schools on Utah's schedule can get lucky. :dis:

If you watched that game then you know Purdue had that game wrapped.. Up 17-7 then 17-14 late in the 4th....running out the clock and Orton fumbles and Wisci returns it 40 yards for a td.

Orton and Joe Tiller will have a hard time recovering from this one.

I agree. Not to take anything away from Utah--I think they've done a great job and I really like their head coach--he's young and he seems to have a good relationship with his players, but the fact remains that they really don't play anyone to warrant even a #8 ranking (you've got to do better than beat a mediocre top-25 team such as Texas A&M and a UNC team that hasn't so much as sniffed the top of the ACC in years).

Based on their record, yes, they DEFINATELY deserve to be a top 15--ever perhaps a top 10 team...but 1 thru 6??? ...nope. Teams like Utah, USM and Fresno State have done GREAT to get their respect dispite playing in weaker cconferences and with smaller budgest and a loss to any of those 3 by a team from a major conference doesn't surprise me anymore. They've got some quality players, but their schedule just doesn't warrant a top 5 ranking.

But, with all of the stink made by mid-majors last year, Utah, if they continue to win and finish undefeated, will get their BCS spot and mid-majors around the country will cheer. Then they'll get spanked by a ledgit superpower and the MAC, WAC, CUSA and SBC will think twice about crying about their representation in the BCS.

You made one mistake in that analysis. The non-BCS leagues will never think twice about seeing one of their brethren snag a 13-15 million dollar payday in making a BCS bowl. Even if a Utah lost 60-0, they'd still whine if they get left out the next year. It's all about the money.

Wisconsin plays Northwestern which will be a defacto home game for them in Evanstan then have a rivalry game with Minnesota for the Paul Bunyan Axe in Madison. They should win those two, but they have to finish on the road at East Lansing--MSU destroyed Minnesota last week and are improving and they finish at Iowa. They could get tripped up the last two weeks of the season. Their last three games are no gimmes though.
