From everything I've read, Oct. 29 seems to be the ideal reschedule date, however, UNT needs UL and ULM to change their schedules in order for it to work. This is looking like it isnt going to work out because it would give ULM 2 bye's in a row. So lets say we have to court another team... who is it going to be? This is a list of all of the teams with a bye on Oct. 29: BCS: UConn Louisville Pittsburgh South Florida West Virginia Virginia Iowa Cal Oregon Notre Dame Non-BCS: Army Temple Houston Memphis SMU Tulsa E. Mich. UNLV Utah Wyoming Arkansas St. FAU We have alot of choices here. You have quite a few cupcakes, some decent mid-major/bcs teams, and a few good teams. I think its a perfect oppurtunity to set up a home-and-home with one of the better teams like Iowa, Notre Dame, Virginia, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Cal, Oregon and Louisville. This gives us our twefth game for next year. Keep this in mind... Both LSU and Iowa have Oct. 29th this year and Oct. 28th next year open... Lets get it set up...
Only way we could play one of them is if they play at Hawaii. I think any non conference team that goes to Hawaii gets to play an extra game. At least in the past.
If we can't schedule UNT, we will probably court a Div I-AA team. They might be willing to cancel or move a game to take home a big paycheck from a game in Tiger Stadium.
A 12th game is allowed every 4 years I believe... and even if these teams have already used their then I'm sure the NCAA would allow a waiver.
The 12th game is allowed once every 4 years because thats how the calender falls and there is an extra saturday in the 3 months we can have games. That fell in 2003, so it isn't coming up again until 2007. (But that doesn't matter cause we can play 12 every year starting next year anyways)
IF we do not play UNT, then look for LSU just to play a 10 game season. If this was a conference game we would have no choice but to make it up. seeing how we are talking about UNT.....................
This is shameful on the part of NLU that we are even debating this. How could NLU even have to think twice about pushing bakc their game a week to accomodate scheduling changes with USL. Gahhhh... Get this done NLU and USL!!!
I was going to say the governor could step in to assist the public universities in working this out, then I remembered who the governor was.........nevermind. I hate NLU.....and they are racist for using the Natvie American as a mascot. :thumb:
