....who would you want doing the 1st tier SEC games on CBS? Play by Play: Sean McDonough or Gus Johnson Color: Spencer Tillman Sideline: Nobody - they are pointless and add nothing to the broadcast
I tend to agree on the general uselessness of sideline reporters, but Wolfson is one of the better ones, so I'd keep her. Tillman would be a very good replacement on color, anyone currently doing NFL play-by-play would do.
1. Gus Johnson and Charles Davis nobody better Charles Davis knows your team better then YOU know your team 2. Brad Nessler and Todd Blackledge
Yikes, can't stand Gus Johnson. Tries to make every play seem like it's the Super Bowl winning play. Play-by-Play: Nessler. Voice is awesome. Very humble and doesn't overstep his boundaries. Color: Mark May. I think this guy knows the game and is very mature. I think without an annoying competitor like Holtz, this guy would be great. He seems much more calm when he does his solo commentary.
The best booth that I've ever seen/heard was a MNF double-header a couple of years ago. It was Nessler, Dick Vermeil, and Jaworski. Unbelievable group. I realize the last two know nothing about CFB, so I'd say Nessler and Blackledge.
McDonough's voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me, so a no go on him. In spite of myself, I find that David Pollack is growing on me (non-stop motor and all), and I think he'd be good on a broadcast. Sideline reporters are fine; it was actually what I wanted to do when I first went to college. I'd have been pioneering at that time because Leslie Visser was the only female doing that job at the time. My favorite sideline reporter is Erin Andrews, hands down.
