If you could "steal" one SEC player.... Who would it be? We're doing this over on the Hawk Forum off our list of preseason all-Big Ten players. So far, our want list is: 1) Ted Ginn, Jr. (tOSU) 2) Laurence Maroney (Minn) 3) Greg Eslinger (the OT from Mn who is the second coming of Robert Gallery) Here's your list: All-SEC Team Offense WR: Courtney Taylor, Auburn WR: Skyler Green, LSU OL: Max Jean-Gilles, Georgia OL: Marcus McNeill, Auburn OL: Mike Degory, Florida OL: Andrew Whitworth, LSU OL: Arron Sears, Tennessee QB: Chris Leak, Florida RB: Kenneth Darby, Alabama RB: Jerious Norwood, Mississippi State TE: Leonard Pope, Georgia Defense DL: Parys Haralson, Tennessee DL: Kyle Williams, LSU DL: Jesse Mahelona, Tennessee DL: Jeremy Mincey, Florida LB: Patrick Willis, Ole Miss LB: Moses Osemwegie, Vanderbilt LB: Demeco Ryans, Alabama DB: LaRon Landry, LSU DB: Jarvis Herring, Florida DB: Fred Bennett, South Carolina DB: Ko Simpson, South Carolina Specialists K: John Vaughn, Auburn KR: Tyrone Prothro, Alabama P: Kody Bliss, Auburn My guess would be Leak or Vaughn... but what do I know!!
Re: If you could "steal" one SEC player.... I'd take Chris Leak. He's got the best looking eyes in the league.
Re: If you could "steal" one SEC player.... Leak - not for his eyes, Patrick Willis - I guess, don't know much about him, John Vaughn - only if our kicking game doesn't come together this year. That would cover even the smallest of question marks that we have going into this year.
Last year I would have picked Channing Crowder. This year I still think the biggest thing we are missing is a dominating big time play maker at LB. Not sure who that LB is this year but find me one on an SEC team and I'll take him.
I don't think very many LSU fans would pick anyone other than Chris Leak. We could use an amazing LB & kicker too, but it all comes down to the quarterback for this LSU squad. For as "loaded" as Tennessee supposedly is, there's not one player on that team that I would trade one of our players for.
I wouldn't have any problem taking a top flight CB. I'm not sure how good those two guys are, but they have to be a little bit more proven than Prude and Chevis(I think Chevis will eventually be very good).
True QB is the most important position for us to find someone ready to play big time ball, but I think with the group we have we will be just fine there.
We have been bringing in top notch kickers for years, we have not developed them very well however. I really like Miles attention to special teams and hope it pays dividends this fall.
