1. I'd consider Pearl and Gillespie first, then Donnovan coach. Brady might have a good season this winter/next spring. I wouldn't trade Miles for anyone at this time, though I might have taken someone else at the time of hiring. I'd leave Summit at Tennessee because beating her is better than having her (e should be able to pick up a strong candidate) and stick with Maneiri to see what he can do with the baseball program.
  2. Let's get this right! I said Tommy Bowden would walk naked to coach at Alabama, but never did I say that!

FWIW, Sexton put feelers out to three SEC schools, and yes, like it's been posted, LSU was one of them. Now, the way it was described earlier...I'd have to take a bit of contention with that.

Summit. As much as the thought of a UT coach walking the baseline, who wouldn't consider that a solid switch.

Like LSU fans, there's a question mark around basketball (men's). I've seen a lot that have their eyes on Pelphry (?), new coach in the SEC from South Alabama. I would love to see a coach like Gregg Marshall in basketball...but CMG has another year...

Football: I'm sure I'll get ticked off at one of the position coaches before long.

  3. Terry, I missed that thread, In all honesty, if both the LSU and Bama jobs were open after last season, do you think that Saban would have stilll went to Bama?
  4. Run a search on "delusional Bama fans..."

NOW, as to your question. I don't know. It's a great question though.

I see the majority hear believe Saban only went after the dollar. IF so, where would he choose to go if he doesn't have any loyalty or respect for college football's traditions and University's?
  5. I think Miles' contract calls for him to be in the top 3 of SEC coaches if he wins the SEC and top 3 of all coaches if he wins a MNC. There will be very few places who will be paying more than LSU should he win a conference or national championship.

As for the thread ... I'd take Spurrier and Meyer over Miles. Damn near anyone over Brady. Too early to tell on Mainieri, but I still want Bianco.
  6. Of course you would. Bama fans want to believe that Alabama is absolutely where Nick wanted to be.
  7. I think Nick went after the money for sure, but he also wanted to be someplace in the NCAA where he could win because Miami wasn't working out. I seriously doubt that "tradition" had much to do with it.

Top-5 LSU wasn't available, where he had previous success, received top pay, and where the infrastructure he designed was built and operational and LSU still had some seniors that he recruited.

Top-5 Ohio State wasn't available, where Nick once coached as an assistant. Until he came to LSU in 2000, Nicks entire college and pro career was in Ohio or adjoining states. If anyplace is "home" for Nick and his family, it is Ohio, just across the river from his birthplace.

Unranked Alabama was available. It's a place where he can win, they have the cash (at least for now) and they were persistant. Nick always caves in to the hard sell. It was the right place for him, I can't remember any openings at the time that could fill more of his needs.
  8. To be able to have Spurrier or Meyers would be tempting but I'd have to stay with Miles. He doesn't have the resume' of the other two.....yet, anyway, but he seems to be a very good fit for us. He makes me proud when I hear of recruits parents saying how he won 'em over.

Before he set foot on our campus he showed me he could keep up with Saban when he landed Perrilloux who Saban wasn't coming to LSU. I also understand that he may not win every recruiting battle with Saban but, IMO, to have a kid change and decide to come after he'd elected not to is a cut above from one who's final decision is to come to LSU.

I forgot the name of the kid who was "At a funeral" but he really wasn't "Lost" to Saban, he was put out. :)
  9. I think it's more than money. He wanted a place where he felt he could win big (recruiting base, facilites, fan base, etc.) But if bama thinks he loves Bama, they are delusional !
  10. Luther Davis is the one I believe. He's still yet to qualify with his ACT score.
