Assuming the early accounts are true (and I know they are) Saban will no longer be LSU's football coach. I intend to follow his Dolphin career closely and will pull for him and the Dolphins from here on out (I need an NFL team to pull for anyway). The search for a new coach will be interesting and I'm confident we will get a good one. For the cliff jumpers like sourdough, we may lose a few recruits but we will pick some up as well. The program is on solid ground right now and the loss of a few verbal commitments is not going to derail the train that is running smoothly along the tracks. We are all disappointed, but, please, I beg you; Don't come on here bashing Saban because he did what he thought was right. The process was lengthy, but that just points up how tough a decision this was. LSU will survive this and we will be strong THANKS TO NICK SABAN , not in spite of him. It's the 1st day of a new era. Let's not look back. It was a great ride, Coach and I will always be known here as SABANFAN!! :thumb:

thanks for mentioning me but I'm no cliff jumper here.
Why should I not be concerned about people transferring or losing recruits?
You should be a little concerned this late in the game.

I NEVER have said it was the end of the world, quite the opposite.
I've also said I will root for the Dolphins, have always and have more reasons
    to root for them.

I don't really like the way this was handled, I would've rather heard it from NS
than here it from ESPN news or the press, why couldn't they have had it on time. :dis:

Well, I've posted before that I don't blame Nick for doubling his salary and pursuing his dream. And I also think that LSU is in great shape for 2005 with 17 returning starters, a lot of depth, and our three big games all at home. Hell, Sourdough could coach this team to a double-digit winning season next year. Skip will be able to get a good coach, no doubt about it.

But I reserve the right to grumble about how Nick handled this. Holding LSU hostage for 11 days and then going with the team to Orlando to make this Christmas Day announcement just before a big bowl game was kind of lame. Talk about taking the starch out of the Tiger team!

OK, now its out of my system and it's time to move on. Job #1 for Skip is to name Jimbo interim head coach for the bowl game and let the team put Saban behind them, too. You can't have it both ways, Nick. You are no longer the coach and you need to leave now. Don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out, and good luck in the NFL.

I can only hope that Skip has spent the last 11 days in a discrete search for a replacement coach and that he can get one on board within a week to try and save the recruiting class. Steal Spurrier from Carolina, maybe. That would set the tongues all wagging.

he doesn't need to take it out on everybody.
I've been objective in every post and he's calling me out like i've said the sky is falling.
So what if I was concerned over some recruits and players leaving?
Thats all I said other than I didn't like the way the press conference got put off and we knew it before he announced.

I said I was happy for hiim to go and follow his dreams!
