http://www.cleveland.com/sports/pla...sf?/base/sports/1101292320235820.xml#continue Could Davis, Saban be trading spaces? Wednesday, November 24, 2004 Roger Brown Plain Dealer Columnist While Browns owner Randy Lerner may be sharpening the ax for head coach Butch Davis, the slick Davis has been one step ahead of him. NFL and college sources say a rep for Davis recently made a private, back-channel call to Louisiana State University officials -- and made clear Davis is interested in the LSU head coaching job should current Tigers coach Nick Saban leave after this season. The delicious irony: Saban, a former Cleveland assistant, is a likely candidate to replace Davis as Browns head coach -- once Davis is fired. Why do many liken the apparent, growing relationship between Lerner and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft to that of a gullible guppy swimming with a sea-wise shark? (Uh, care to guess who's the guppy?) Lerner is finishing his second full season as Browns owner, while Kraft won his second Super Bowl earlier this year. One of the most useless exercises in sports is asking players on a losing team to speculate on whether their coach might be fired: usually, players are the most clueless about what's happening in the big picture on their team. And here's Exhibit No. 1,675 as proof: The recent declaration by Browns tackle Ryan Tucker that Davis "ain't going nowhere" -- and the lineman's mocking suggestion that those expecting Davis to go should just "relax."
blah blah blah.... No offense to you. I know you're just passing on info., but at this point, the rumors are tiresome.
ESPNews is now previewing an upcoming segment where they say there is talk of Davis going to UF....I don't follow these coaching change stories. They are too often complete BS - if it happens it happens.
Well one of the segments on around the horn coming up is called saban/butch....hmm wonder what thats about.....
