Well, according to this UTEP fan...it sure is...apparently Mike Price has gotten really pissed about UTEP fans booing their own team during their last game. http://www.borderlandnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050920/SPORTS03/509200353/1002/SPORTS
Remind me to boo the firefighters when they take too long to put a fire out. I pay for it, therefore I can boo...
My favorite line: "I'm a fan, but more like a coach. I'm not going to just cheer them for everything." More like a coach? Give me a break. More like a jacka$$. Booing your own team is bush league. Critique, groan, don't cheer, whatever, but don't boo. I agree with Price on this one.
booing & dissaproving are completely different. Of course we should be able to show dissaprovement with the team, but fans shouldn't show that by booing. These players might not be little kids, but most of them are still teenagers. Also, these guys are not being paid to go out there, they are students just like me. People can boo a professional athlete making a few million a year to play football if they want, because that's how these people make their living they open themselves up to that kind of criticism. Student athletes shouldn't have to do that.
At least that guy's stupid enough to let the truth come out...most people who complain about schemes, or boo at the games, basically feel they know better than the coach what should happen. The ones who feel deep down they know these things are in fact couch coaches, and they are comical to watch...but infuriating when they boo.
should you boo 18-22 year old college kids?? NO!! should you boo overpaid pro players who don't give their best effort and sometimes don't care b/c they got pizzzaid already?? YES!!!!!!
I've been watching espnews off and on today and I thought it was hilarious when Steve Spurrier encouraged the South Carolina fans to boo the coaches and players if they ever play like they did this past saturday again.......
The only time I've ever "booed" at a sporting event (other than when the opposition enters the stadium) would be at a PRO game. And that's it. I don't boo my college team. These guys aren't pros yet--reguardless of whether or not they want to play as a pro (like that guys suggests), the bottom line is that they aren't yet. College kids don't get paid to be out there. The majority of the players on the field are there because they like to do it, and want to represent their school. They're representing us (unlike today's pro landscape, where the majority of their athletes are seemingly more interested in representing themselves rather than their team). I'll boo officials at a college game :thumb: --that's a no-brainer. Those guys are the are the only guys getting paid (well, them and the coaching staff).... I might yell at a coach for what I may view as a "questionable decision"--but that's it.
