Just a discussion I got into with one of my fellow brother in arms the other day.

Does anyone else feel that the government today cares more about itself and less about the people it was created to serve?

I mean today most of the offices held are held by career polticans, not by the average joe.

Does our government opperate in fear of us as it should be?

Has the media fallen under control of the government and its soul use is to keep us at bay or confused with petty ideals.

In 1776 this nation was forged by traitors to the English Throne. Traitors who felt the passion that "Their" government should be a government that should work for them, the people.

1861 a new set of traitors felt that their government had forgotten about them and was trying to oppress their lives. And had it not being for the fact that the former Union was able to convince the nation that slavery was the key issue then it is possible a new nation would have been forged then also.

115 years of difference between to wars both fought for the reason of changing the government in which ruled.

And had not the 60's been over run by drugs it could have very well been another attempt to change the government.

So here we are 155 years since the last time citizens stood up to the government and demanded change.....

Thomas Jefferson would be very displeased. I might be wrong on the actual wordage here, but it was Jefferson that said "For Freedom to work, then a revolt every 20 years is a good thing" and that the "tree of liberty must be refreshed by the blood of patroits"

Now I am not saying to go stock pile arms and build bunkers in your backyard, all I am saying is that I myself have been very displeased with the workings of our government on almost every level. And if this slide away from center does not stop, we as a people might not be left with any other option.

definitely. politicians have always been scoundrels who want to control other people.

i dunno if that is something new.

no, but why should they, we happily fall in line while they pass every socialist thing they can some up with, taxing the living crap out of us and doing everything they can to restrict our economy from making us all rich. and we love it. "taxes? we love em!" we say. "social security? sounds great! take my money please! oppress me!.....zillion dollar farm subsidies? oh by all means take my money!"

the government hardly has to try. nobody wants to change anything.

no, we are to blame. we should stop depending on the large media outlets. there a zillion news sources out there for us.

government, by it's nature, is flawed. thats why it should do nothing. when there is a problem with something, should almost never look at the governmetn for a solution.

for example, if we think oil is too expensive, we should never consider what the government should do. we shouldnt be asking the president to present alternatives. the opposite is true. any solution the government proposes should be burned and buried, and the man who proposed it should be shot between the eyes.

problems are for people to solve. the job of the government is to protect us from each other and other countries, as well as provide a very small amount of infrastructure as a foundation for us to operate. that is all. anything else and we are ruining ourselves. we should never want the government to do anything except protect us and decide how to get out of our way.

but everyone is a coward and they want the government to be active and find solutions to whatever problem they think they have. and inevitably the government makes everything worse, every time. and all the while we are unwilling to rally for change. we vote for the same two worthless parties we always have because they present us with plans we like. unless those plans are to stop controlling us, i hate them.

we should be beheading any politician that doesnt want to cut taxes by at least 50% right this second.

it is said the american public is in the political middle. well, by my standards, they are socialist freedom-destroyers and i would be pleased if somebody slit their throats.

elections and free speech, spreading the word, convincing each other to quit accepting that we should spend huge percentages of our time working to pay the government.

count me in with team katt. save a place for me in the bunker. stockpile a couple weapons for me.

But when our choices are the lesser of two evils like the last election, that process is not working.

Weither you vote Rep or Dem you are still voting for polticans that only care about THEIR agenda and not us.

How can elections work when the people that should be running our government can not afford to run against someone that has been breed since birth to be a poltican.

In my opinion the last president that we had that seemed to be one of the people was Teddy Rosevelt.

That is the problem our government does not fear its people.

But how in this day and age would anyone be able to stand up and say what needs to be said without being labeled a terrorist.

The current two party system is obviously teetering on the border of failure. Not in a coup d'etats kinda way, but in overall dysfunction. I'm too tired to expound on this, but hope this thread doesn't die.

The amount of our nation's resources that are wasted on politicians' spending that is wholly self-serving is sickening.

The government always has swung back and forth like a pendulum. Eight years of Clinton swung it to the left and it swung back through center into the far right with Bush. Currently it is so far to the right that it will surely come back to center soon and will probably swing into the left again.

The modern parties are so polarized and partisan that there may never been a true steady-on-center government again. The pendulum will swing back and forth from left to right and back again and will only be moderate on the average, but never in reality.

We must stop electing politicians who put their parties above their constituents and above the overall good of the nation.

But if the parties are polarized and partisan and they are the ones that give us the choices to vote for, it doesnt leave much room for change.
