First of all, thank the football gods that we pulled this one out. And it was great to see Early in the game doing well as he did. But this game brings back the ever present question about Brandon LaFell this year- does this kid help us or hurt us?

He started out pretty well against Auburn tonight. He held on to the ball for a few nice catches... and then...

LaFell not only drops a pass that would have been a long completion for a first down into socring territory, but he drops it so dramatically that he flips it up into the Auburn player's hands for an interception.

This play told me one thing, and it registered LOUD and CLEAR. Dude is having a really rough time out there, and his confidence is severely lacking. I am concerned for our team because I am not sure whether this kid can recover at some point in this season, and obviously we need him to bouce back and finish strong.

What do you think? Is he messed up in the head too much this year, or does he stand a chance of bouncing back somehow this year to produce some good play on the field? Please think about this seriously, don't just reply because you're pissed off. What are our chances that he turns it around and starts playing better?

Don't know maybe they can work in some easy catches in a less dramatic game to help build up his confidence.

Lafell should be the number 3 receiver, at best!!! There is no excuse for the number of catches he dropped the past few games. Remember the catch he missed towards the end of the UK game. It went right through his arms while he was wide open.

Wouldn't be surprised if the starting wr's for the bama game are early and byrd.

With our schedule we haven't had any less dramatic games. Every 1st down and drop could have been a deciding factor the past 3 games...

One thing about LaFell that might contribute to his drops, I've noticed he is NOT a fluid runner at all. When he runs he runs too hard and that leads to drops and a lot of slips on the turf, which is exactly what we've seen the past month or so. He has the potential to be great, but not yet. Let's see how he does the next few weeks, this could just be a rough stretch on an unexperienced WR.

This should be the WR depth chart after this game:

    #9 - Doucet
    #2 - Byrd
    #80 - Tolliver
    #86 - Mitchell
    #87 - Mitchell
    #8 - Holiday
    #10 - Ricky Dixon
    #82 - (TE) Richard Dickson
    #1 - Lafell

Lafell, right now, is too much of a liability.

tonight, for the first time I noticed how big LaFell is. That dude is not only tall, but he's built strong as well. I think he will be a BIG STAR someday. He was put in a position this year where he is not yet comfortable. He'll be fine in the long run. You know he's got to be a mess mentally at this point. He gets open, now he just needs some confidence. :eek:ldskule:

No doubt. However, he is no where near being one of our top 3 WRs right now
