Make it a 10 game playoff and base it on the top 10 BCS poll. I see a lot of SEC teams in the second round.

Play anyone of these bowl match ups in the regular season and each game would be played totally different. That's because in the regular season, they actually mean something.

I think, much like when Utah whipped 'Bama in the Sugar Bowl a few years ago, LSU and Florida looked like they couldn't care less about their games, while Clemson and Louisville came to make statements against the mighty SEC. For the sake of the players, the coaches better find ways to get these kids engaged, even when they think they've been slighted with their bowl invites, unless they enjoy getting their asses handed to them on national TV, because the schools are not going to suddenly start turning down bowl games the players might think they're too good for.

Excellent point. Everybody is gunning for the SEC now. SEC should be able to take the heat, but one can't discount the role of emotion when an underdog is pumped up and the bigdog is in a no-win situation i.e. beat em bad and they hear "well, that team sucks, of course you should should have whooped them." Ideally, both teams would have an equal amount to lose, but thats simply not the case when its bigdog vs underdog.

If the SEC finishes with a losing bowl record, expect tons of gloating outside of SEC country. I'm already hearing it.

All fair points but everyone was gunning for us last year and the record was much better. Part of what I based my comment on was the "eye test". The top teams either lost and were out played or struggled to win which didn't happen last year. Emotion does factor in on both record and eye test but to me it stll looks like the SEC is a step down from last year.
As Roynav says we will hear much gloating from the rest of the country.

I think it is a sympton of too many bowl games. For some the bowl is golden, for others, it is, well we settled.

Back in the day, when there were four or five big ones, and no NC, they all meant something to everyone. Not anymore.

I also agree with a lot of guys, I no longer care about SEC pride. I care about LSU. Only.

Mississippi State layed an egg this bowl season just as I predicted they would. They have been smoke and mirrors frauds all season.

I still think Dan Mullen's high tide was the 9-4 2010 team. As far as the rest of the league, they are just fine. Vanderbilt is incredibly good, LSU lost by only 1 point, and Ass To Mouth should win the Cotton Bowl fairly easily.

As far as what Alabama does, fuck them. Couldn't care less about the title game.

Me too. (Too bad the only time a regular season game meant nothing cost us a title.)
