The day I have been dreading for 2 years now has finally arived. Today I got a Cease & Desist letter from some New York law firm that represents that company that LSU sold it's rights to. Luckily, they just want me to take down the shows, it could have been much worse. It would seem from the letter that these are just some lawyers in new york who LSU has nothing to do with (indeed, i doubt they have acctually seen a football game), so don't go e-mailing skip about it. At this very moment I am myself pening a letter to ask if LSU themselves would start such a service for out-of-state fans. From the wild response it gets here, I have know doubt that this is something they should be doing. However, The Geaux Show must go on. This week Wee and Pat will have their bowl picks and a look at the Men's BB season so far. And we are working very hard on getting a live call-in show put together, starting hopefully in January. Think of it as the coaches show with no censors, no ads, and no coaches. I also incourage you to e-mail us or call us with your questions and comments. [email protected] or call (775) 288-3223 Well my x-mas is ruined, how about yours?:bncry:
That sux. Those posts weren't hurting anyone and, correct me if I'm wrong, but you weren't seeing in financial gains were you? Nothing worse than money grubbers.
Far from it, besides time used for editing and encoding (trust me, being up past midnight on a Sunday with school/work in the morning is no fun), it cost me about 30 bucks a month to serve out the ipod version to the 500+ subscribers each week. I felt it was worth it though because the quality i could send out was arguably better than what the geaux zone was putting out (and the ipod versions were even better) and i liked helping out of state fans who don't get to watch it for free like i do. I really hope i can convince LSU to start doing it themselves.
So its your little side project that they got wiff of and not the Geaux Show? Just be glad its them and not some other group which shall remain nameless coming at you. If you had the time and the money I say we fight it and take it to court!!!
On June 17, 1972, Frank Wills, a security guard working at the office building of the Watergate complex of office space, residential buildings and a hotel, noticed a piece of tape on the door between the basement stairwell and the parking garage. It was holding the door unlocked, so Wills removed it, assuming the cleaning crew had put it there. Later, he returned and discovered that the tape had been replaced. Suspicious, Wills then contacted the D.C. police. Oh, my bad....wrong scandal.
MTV was providing a service to all us Fans of Louisiana team that live outta state. He was doing so without the chance of profit and was acuattly spending his own money and chicken wire to provide the service. DAMN THE MAN, SAVE THE EMPIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!
