January 25, 2005 Dear LSU Football Fan, For the first time the LSU Ticket office is starting a waiting list for season football parking passes. Entry to this list is available for current football season ticket holders. The waiting list memberships will be taken via the internet only. The membership is a one-time fee of $10. To sign-up, click here. The season football parking list will close on May 31st. The list will be sorted by TAF priority. Individuals who do not have TAF priority points will be sorted by the time they logged in and registered for the waiting list. No offense, but that's how they quiet down the mob of requests and still benefit. Some people out there won't even think twice about paying to get on the list....so the athletic department makes a few extra bucks. IMHO, I wouldn't pay it either, so I'm with you.......but then again, I don't exactly get to make it to every home football game either :bncry: When I make my annual LSU game, if I had to park in Donaldsonville, I wouldnt complain!
It just seems alittle silly. Next they will charge to go into the restrooms. They may think it will cut down on the long lines. Poor people can just hold it. Only the serious may piss.
Supply and Demand.... Its a simple concept. :wink: A lot of people want to park - the Athletic Dept wants to make money. It's the way it works itself out. If thousands of people have $310 to spend on parking, then they get the best parking spots. Of course I can say this because I get to walk from my apartment to the games.... :lol: When I have to start paying more than $7.50 a ticket, then I can join in and start complaining.
It's for the same reason we are required to pay for our season tickets MUCH earlier in the year .........INTEREST THE LSU AD dept makes money off your payment/deposit in interest alone...........the earlier they get your money the better
My family got the same letter. Went from hand to trash faster than you can say your name. I know the Athl. Dept. wants to make some extra $$$, but it seems a bit excessive to charge $10 bucks to have your name on a list. But I don't mind the walk, after a win I enjoy it, and after a loss it gives me time to cool down before I get on the road.
This is going on all over the place and while I wouldnt pay it I know there are plenty that will gladly do it. Lots of people wont think twice and the athletic department makes a few extra bucks. Those that dont pay for getting on the list probably wouldnt have paid the big parking fee to be there anyway.
This comes with having a team that wins and is expected to win. You ought to be here in Georgia. The money these guys pay just to have a chance at season tickets is unreal and parking is another issue all in its self. The more seasons we have success at LSU the more it is going to cost. I dont like it but that thats the way it is. God help us but let LSU have a couple of bad seasons and then you can get parking and tickets for next to nothing with no processing fees or any other kind of fees. I DO REMEMBER THOSE DAYS. It wasnt that long ago. I would just assume pay a little more and keep winning.
stamant, you hit it perfectly. If people think $300 is bad.....don't even look at Georgia's prices.... BTW, what are you in Athens, GA for? I am right outside Atlanta sometimes
