on the AU boards. Most over there believe they win hands down because of the LSU QB situation. boscokt Registered User Posts: 2342 (4/29/04 12:26:33 pm ) Reply Re: Poll--How bad does AUBURN lose to LSU by this year?? -------------------------------------------------------------------- sniff sniff, yep I knew I smelt coonass jvinin1 Registered User Posts: 2 (4/29/04 12:28:01 pm ) Reply Re: Poll--How bad does AUBURN lose to LSU by this year?? --------------------------------------------------------------------- Don't you mean "CONRDOGS?" Auburn is going to kick LSU's butt all over the field just like in 2002 when you didn't have Matt Mauk. This time you not only won't have Mauk, you won't have Clayton, Henderson, Lavalais, Hill, etc......... And you'll be playing @ Auburn EARLY in the season! UH OH. So keep talking trash punk. You'll get what's coming to you! AUBURN 31 LSU 14
WHY are the Auburn fans SO excited about tagging the OC from Indiana? I guess a drowning man will cling to anything to survive. When coordinators and assistants start getting fired, there are big problems in a program. Just ask R.C. Slocum--or Mack Brown (who's really on the hotseat this season--but does have a new DC who's supposed to save the day.)
“As for our coach I think he has a winning record against Saban, but why mess up the fun with facts!” – Trailerpark U boy The fact is it’s 2-2 I love how the TPKers are so obsessed with LSU. They dream of being bengal tigers.
Well, if you had to deal with the abysmal failure that was NallBall last year, you'd be excited for any change as well. We like what he has shown this spring. We like what the coaches have to say about him. He coached some potent offenses at UCLA with Cade McNown and DeShaun Foster. He was stuck in Indiana coaching for, ahem, Gerry DiNardo. IU is not exactly overflowing with talent. I like the hire and think that Borges will be a good fit at AU.
Okay, was the offense that impressive at Auburn this spring--or was the defense unable to stop them? That could be more of a problem for you guys this season. You lost some pretty valuable starters to the NFL.
I'll take any of our three QB's over JC any and every day. In his fifteen years at war chicken U he has yet to lead them to anything significant. If I were an Auburn fan I would be worried about my own QB and his lack of ability and not who is starting for the defending national champions. :geaux: :lsug: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs: :champs:
Good point on the defensive losses. Dansby, Thomas, Torbor, and McNeil will be tough to replace. The optimism surrounding Borges is the use of multiple formations (rather than I, I, I, I, etc.) and the use of Williams and Brown in the same formation at times. The D will be fine, there has been much depth created the last few years and that is going to pay off now that the "stars" are gone. So, I guess my answer to your question is....a little from column A and a little from column B.
Well, we're just going to disagree here. I'll take JC and his experience over raw, but unproven, talent. The SEC is a very unforgiving conference for a newcomer (shoutout to MRandall!) and the experience of a 5th year senior is invaluable. JC has not been flashy, but he is the statistical leader in several categories on the "all-time" lists at Auburn. He is accurate and rarely makes costly blunders. He is in the mold of Mauck....a game manager rather than a gunslinger.
I agree that experience is very important and must admit that my post is mostly a friendly jab a AU fans but I don't think that JC has been very consistant and has not shown the ability to let those around him win ball games ala Mauck. If I could pick a QB to enter the SEC season with out of the current SEC QB's JC would be about my 10th choice if that high. He is the kind of QB that you hope just doesn't lose the game for you and surely isn't the QB that is going to go out and win ball games with his ability and descision making JMO. :geaux: :lsug: :champs:
Fair enough. I wouldn't put JC at 10th out of 12 though. I'd take him over whoever is at Vandy, UK, USC, Ole Piss, MSU, Bama, Ark, LSU, and UT. I'd take Greene or Leake over JC. I think JC's struggles have been with his receivers more than anything. Dropped balls have been way too prevalent in our offense. I think the coaches are finally doing something about that based on the spring scrimmages. Let me also add...THANK GOODNESS Hugh Nall is not the OC anymore.
