1. Great summation of how screwed up the BCS is:

    http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/columns/story?columnist=maisel_ivan&id=1680859

    Here is a taste:
"On the day that's supposed to set the stage for the autumn version of March Madness, college football embarrassed itself. Between Canes-Noles II and the ban of the Trojans from winning the coaches poll, I can't wait to see what else the BCS simultaneously wants and prevents from happening."
  2. How come every conference can come up with a way to decide who wins the conference, but they can't just make a tie breaker rule to play in a national champ game:

First zero loss teams get in. If there are more than 2 then whoever has the best SOS gets in (would get rid of weak conf champs)

Then if teams have 1 loss gets in, if there is a one-loss team tie, then head to head would be the first tie-breaker; the second tie-breaker would be SOS(would get rid of more weak conf 1 loss teams)

The prohibitor would be you must win your conference to get into the champ game. That's the easiest way to figure out the national champions. It should matter if teams you play lose all year long, that means they really weren't that damn great anyway.

If you have a playoff, you destroy the bowls and end tradition. You still have the problem about who is 8th and who is ninth. You still have to consider a hot 3-4 loss team getting into the playoff like west virginia or Kstate and running the table, then how stupid does the playoff look??? That's why the NFL sux. Who cares who wins the first six games?

I'd never consider a 4 loss team national champs. And I'd probably quit watching when it happens(well every thing but LSU, of course).
  3. NO STUPID POLLS, NO BIASED VOTERS

Clear rules for a national championship.

The last 4 years would have worked out to a different game in the championship except last year. And little controversy would be added
  4. Valid points, Tundra......Very valid points.
  5. The "human" polls can kiss our Purple and Gold a$$es. So can Pete Carroll. LSU is the number one team in America.

  6. In 2001 LSU was a 3 loss team that deserved a shot at the National Championship a hell of a lot more than Nebraska did.

A playoff would not destroy the bowls. The lesser bowls could still have their games between 6-5 teams and the bigger bowls would be a part of the playoff system. If a hot 4 loss team had gelled as a team or started to win because their injured players got healthy and ran the table that would mean that the 4 loss team was the best team at the end of the season when it counts the most. I don't know why the bowls fear a playoff so much because they would make even more money than they do now by being a part of it.

I agree that the NFL sucks but the do have a playoff system that is fair to everybody. The reason the NFL sucks is because of free agency and the salary cap. There are no great teams anymore like the 60's Packers, the 70's Steelers, the 80's 49ers or the 90's Cowboys.
