I am from Mobile AL. JR. as a freshman took his high school to the state championship game .They did not win but he is the real deal. Not taking anything away from Matt Flynn but LSU should be in great shape at quarterback for the the next few years. Also JR. played in the second biggest high school region.

Great! Im hoping we wont miss Mauck as a player....But he was a great leader. Im hoping JR can lead our team and not get frustrated like Randall does. IMO, Not a "real" QB.

I also think that JR will be the man......but whoever Saban decides to put in there, I hope he sticks with him...kinda like what Zook did with Leak. Freshmen are going to make mistakes, the worse thing you can do is yank him out and cause him to lose his confidence....I think the only thing Zook did right this season as far as coaching is sticking with Leak.

I've heard that Flynn is better and I've heard that JaMarcus is better. They say that Flynn knows the offensive plays better than JaMarcus. It's definitely gonna come down to the final weeks of August before Coach Saban and Coach Fisher have a clear cut starter for Oregon State.

yeah it will be interersting to see who is going to lead our Tigers to another SEC Championship next year.....

Is the Oregon State game a done deal???

But remeber he did let both QB's play it out on the field for about 4 or 5 games before naming Leak as the starter and sticking with him. He realized that they were about equal at that point and decided that giving his young guy the chance to play all the time wasn't going to huirt the team last season and would help the team for the future. And don't rule Randall out. Look at how Mauck developed in a year.

yeah thats kinda what I meant, just didn't really say it right. If Randall is no better than either of the freshmen and they are all pretty much equal, he needs to stick with which ever freshmen he decides to go with......kinda like what Zook did...give the QB of the future some experience.

And I am definitly not counting out Randall....he was thrown into the fire in 2002...yeah he made some big mistakes but if he and Mauck had swapped and Randall played the first 6 games and Mauck the rest, I still think that we go 8-5. Randall probably would have gone about 5-1 or 4-2 and Mauck 3-4 or 4-3....fact is Randall came in with very little experience and was up against good teams......hell, I remember when many people on this board were saying that Mauck was not good and he would never take us anywhere!!

we will be fine at QB...just gotta make a decision and let the players play the game.

You know, I've been hearing the same thing ever since before the start of last season. I kind of doubt that that characterization still applies after the completion of their first full season.

The one and only -- JaMarcus Russell

The most famous QB to have never played a down of football yet.

Until we see otherwise, perhaps the skin color of Flynn and Russell is the reason we hear from some "sources" that Flynn has a better grasp of the offense. It may be true, but I won't beleive it until I see it.
