I, like alot of you, am anxiously waiting on signing day. I also have noticed that we have a number of 3 star players with verbals. The rating system has it's reasons and I do rely on it "somewhat" so I do have questions. I went back a couple of years and checked our state's rankings of players and here is what I came up with:

    22Jacob Hester
Shreveport (LA) Evangel RB5-10/234LSUShould be a very solid fullback for the Texas Longhorns.

The Heart and Soul of the 2007 :crystal: was the 22nd ranked player in the state and would be a "solid fullback for the 'horns".

Makes me feel better about checking out our recruits.

The guys on the NFL Network who have been covering the Senior Bowl preparation were predicting that Hester would be in the NFL for about ten years. They said he wasn't great in any facet of the game but he did everything well.

Detillier's been saying pretty much the same thing. Can play fullback or tailback, good hands, willing blocker, would probably be a beast on special teams.

He's great at getting first downs.

I'll check and see, but I think NFL head coaches like that attribute in a player.

He will be the next Chris Cooley-type imo...

Cooley is kinda more of a WR than Hester will be, though.

Jacob will get 5-6 carries a game, catch 3-4 balls a game, block real well, etc...

I think he could be a John Riggins type hybrid FB/RB.

I hope he just gets his chance is all. He will surpise everyone just as he did at the college level.

I hope he does well. Even if he goes to a team i'm not fond of.
