One of the top QB's for the 2007 class signed with LSU today.

Committed, not signed. There is a difference.

First time in a while we've had a big time HS QB commit early enough to influence other offensive prospects. Word has already gotten around to Terrance Tolliver who, it was pointed out ot me, said a while back he wishes Jarret Lee was his QB in HS.

Yep, that could be huge to get this early commit, especially from someone who is projected to be very highly rated.

We had Alex Cate in our stable this time last year, too. But he bolted before signing time. It's a long recruiting season and there will be surprises.

Still, it's good to keep our east Texas recruting pipeline flowing.

That's because we pursued Tim Tebow after promising him we wouldn't recruit any more quarterbacks.

Who is to say that we are still not pursuing other quarterbacks? I would if I were Les. The 3 QB's we have will not all play out their eligibility here and we signed no quarterbacks last year.

Anyway I think Cate used that as an excuse to break his commitment. Tebow or not, there were 2 Parade All-Americans and a Bowl MVP ahead of him at LSU. He has a better change of starting early at Oklahoma State.

    Much, much better.
