per Dandydon and Sonny Shipp from TigerRag. It helps with the OL depth. I know there was some talk of moving one of the DTs to the other side of the ball (Will Blackwell was usually mentioned).

    Inside friedriches is disappointed.

Outside friedriches says- great for OL depth, the most critical place to have depth on a team!

Their just trying him out on Dline to try to create some needed depth. I doubt he sees action this year. Hopefully our Oline depth will develop and he can stay on defense.

It's no secret that this team lacks depth at OT. It's one of those situation where I wish I was a fly on the wall of the meetings. Are they moving him permanently? Are they doing this because they think HE'S better at OT? Are they doing this because they think WE'RE better with him at OT? Both?

He was reportedly in the two-deep at Spring Practice, but of course Dorsey wasn't participating in the spring. I'm sure he went down to 3rd string, but he had to still be ahead of Nevis, Blackwell, and Aubrey.

My educated guess is that this is a permanent move, and that it means they are very pleased with how Nevis, Blackwell, and Aubrey look.

my guess is this means nothing more than the coaches are worried about the OL (and not worried about the DL, obviously). i'd bet that he's back solely to DL next year unless he really impresses at OT. its too much of a coincidence to think the switch was made because barksdale is better suited to OL.

anyone remember what the DT situation was when spears switched?

Funny thing is one of the initial things that turned him away from UM was the fact they thought he'd have a bright future at OT. I think the same came out of ND too.

He wasn't going to UM either way, the dad wanted him away from Detroit.

Nevertheless, from last year's class, he and Jarvis Jones will be money. :thumb:

The word is that other schools wanted him there as well, and he wanted to come here as a DT. I hope all of the rumors about his homesickness were just that.

For SabanFan: Les Miles is a f***ing moron for putting this kid on the O-Line. :bncry: :D

Correct me if I am wrong but it was mentioned many times while we were recruiting him that there was a strong possibilty that he would be an OL. I am sure Miles informed him of this during the recruiting process and I was no secret to Barksdale that LSU was lacking depth on the Oline. I also believe that he said in an article that he was coming to LSU to play where ever we needed him. He had a good attitude about it.

I for one would love to see him play DT but we are stacked on the Dline and I am sure he wouldnt mind getting to see the field earlier than expected. I think that OL is the perfect position for him with his size and speed.
