Just got back from Orlando....

  1. and have determined that I dont like not having computer access during a coaching transition. Just wondering what the general consensus on Les Miles has been in BR and on TF. Are people pumped up or disappointed?

Agree about the computer thing.....that sucked.

I think we will be OK. I really liked what he had to say today. Dont know the consensus here, I am just getting back myself.

I would say cautiously optimistic is the prevailing mood. There's another thread "Belly up to the bar" that has a poll with comments.

    Welcome back guys.

Speaking for people posting on this forum in particular, I'd say that overall there was a general feeling of initial disappointment when Miles surfaced as the front runner.

Some of us (like me) were simply a bit surprised but saw him as a good candidate.

After today's press conference, most people seem to be firmly behind the man.

Also, lostatsea122 would like to know if he/she sat beside you on an amusement park ride...Are you a brother who was wearing blue-checkered shorts with white high tops?

    If so, please e-mail he/she...

    Thanks...

I felt pretty lost without computer access myself. We had a hand-held tv with us at the game and the ABC people predicted Miles was the guy. Then a friend of mine got a call saying Spurrier was in Baton Rouge Friday night, then another friend of mine supposedly verified the information from a couple of other guys back in BR. Next, some guys sitting behind us got a call saying Spurrier had taken the job. I was pretty optimistic at that point, given the numerous "sources", but I guess it goes to show how fast rumors can spread, and I still don't know the source of that one. I was pretty upset when I saw Miles would be the man later that night, but as of now, I'm pretty content with the decision - we really have to be at this point, although the actual list of candidates considered for the job doesn't impress me much. I'm hoping Miles will be able to utilize the talent we have on offense, because I do believe much of it has been wasted the past two years. Defense is obviously the big question mark.

As for the game against Iowa, I thought we clearly had the better talent on the field. Coaching lost the game. I still believe Saban should not have been there. Two blocked punts plus all the other mistakes showed a lack of preparation. As for the talk of Ferentz possibly coming to LSU, I realized when Iowa threw the ball three straight times from the three yard line he doesn't belong in this conference. Nothing against him; he is a great coach. That style just doesn't get it done in the SEC.

First of all i would like to say that the capital one bowl was absolutely awesome, and LSU fans can definately tailgate like no other team we have played this year has. But my main reason for posting was to explain to you two things. First Ferentz does not like to pass all the time, in fact in previous years he usually ran the ball 50-60% of the time. The only reason he had to do this was because we were on our 6th string running back in Brownlee, who might even have been a walkon, and simmons who was the 5th string back who was still a little injured.
He only passes all the time because he has to.
secondly I heard this a few times while talking to LSU fans at the game, I have no idea where this rumor that Ferentz might go to LSU started, but that would never have happened. His son is the starting center on our team, there is no way he is leaving, and if he does he is going to the pros.
