Barksdale is a true freshman and just got moved to oline and is already second string. This guy is going to end up being a great. He has everything- height, speed, foot movement, long arms, etc, etc. I dont normally say this when a kid is this young- but I think he will be an AA and first rounder, barring injury.
Well, hes at practice so he must be doing fine now. I think his biggest problems was Giddens breaking his jaw. I guess he has gotten over that now.
He was not considering staying in Michigan...he and his mom said so. Said he loves it in BR and Miles said he switched to OL willingly to get playing time. One comment on facebook was taken out of context and overblown it seems.
I thought it turned out that Giddens didn't actually break his jaw? Also I was a little worried that Barksdale might be unhappy about being moved to O-line, but reports are looking good so far. He really is a talented guy and getting a guy from Michigan who was basically considering only nearby schools like Ohio St., Michigan, and Notre Dame, speaks volumes about how good LSU has gotten at recruiting. I'm really looking forward to see him develop.
The Sunday paper said that Barksdale volunteered to move to offense. The DL is deep and the OL is shallow . . . its good for the team and its an oportunity for Barkdale to play this year.
You've got to give a lot of credit to this kid. He seems like a very level headed guy and one who puts the team first. Everybody wants players like that! Thank you Joseph Barksdale for being a Tiger!
As Travis Daniels said,"I play for the letters on my helmet, not the name on the back of my jersey." Sounds like Barksdale has the same philosophy.
